Anyone else feel like a shark following a trail of chum, getting ready to tear our prey to shreds?
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 12:49 PM by KzooDem
Earlier today I replied to a post in GD Presidential where a conservative with 14 posts went on and on about how we're all the same when it comes down to the nitty gritty and we should just all go along to get along. I called this poster out, but in a particularly vehement way. Lots and lots of the "F" word. It was the biggest verbal lashing I've given to someone at DU for a very long time.

Then I ran across a post about fundie preacher Kenneth Copeland telling people to pray to keep "the dark forces" out of the White House. Again, more use of the "F" word and just negative, vile rhetoric.

I occasionally get worked up and spout off, but today I feel like what it must be like to be psychotic and be off your meds. I feel like a shark that's closing in on my prey and I just want to clamp down on it and shake the holy hell out of it.

I feel incredibly restless....so much is so closely within reach, but still not quite guaranteed. After 8 long years, I feel like the next two days are going to be the longest of them all.

I want victory - not for Obama, not for the Democratic Party - but for this whole country. And I feel like I want to just suck the life out of anything and anyone potentially standing in its way.

Don't worry...I'm not psychotic and I'm not actually going to completely lose it and go violent. I'm just feeling some pretty primal, id-based urges in terms of winning this election.

Anyone else in the same boat??

3. No, I find knocking on doors and phonebanking takes the edge off. I couldn't imagine being on the
sidelines watching but doing nothing to effect the outcome.

It would drive me crazy.

4. I would so love to be doing that right now, but can't.
Back in grad school this year FT and working PT. I have absolutely no time for myself, let alone the campaign. I did volunteer some earlier, before school started. I have been very heavily involved in previous campaigns and really miss the energized feeling I got from doing it. Thanks for doing what some of us can't right now! :-)

7. Find 20 minutes and make calls from home using the Obama website phonebanking tools.
You know you want to.

You will be a part of the history of change.

8pm to 8:20 tonight, for instance. You owe yourself that feeling!

11. Wow...just made 5 calls!
One "no answer"
One "left message"

Talked to three people, one who voted early and two who are voting for Obama on Tuesday.

You're right...this is a great tool. Thanks for the heads up and shame on me for not spending more time at the Obama site. I should have already known about this!

5. My favorite part of any WAR is when
You so dispirit your enemy, that they drop their swords and shields, so as to retreat faster, and you feel SO proud, that you committed a third of your forces to thwart any retreat. They are encircled, and but for our mercy, they would perish, to a man. Generally, at that point, all the enemy are put to the sword, unless they swear allegiance to the new king. New KING, being democracy, come back to town.

14. It will be punishment enough
as all those who whored and corrupted their religion for political ends will find that they've destroyed their religion's hold on America. Oh, the gnashing of teeth! And the loss of non-taxable monies! And the loss of opportunities to abuse children by telling them "Jesus is gonna git yew" if they tell!

Of course, their "religion" has proven again to be what it has in the past--a bunch of idiots desperate to find some way to imagine themselves "superior" to anyone else, based on any flimsy, surface nonsense they can come up with.
