Affleck as Olbermann: "It is the Fear and the Tyranny Up With Which We Dare No Longer Put"

So, the Keith Olbermann skit made it into the live edition of "Saturday Night Live" last night. Ben Affleck, who's been a guest on Countdown, played Olbermann to the extreme, and that's not easy to do. We were particularly fond of Fred Armisen's turn as Richard Wolffe.

1. I didn't think it was so good--he was acting more like Tweety than Keith

And Keith CERTAINLY doesn't play videos out of context.

I think it would have been more fun if he'd done a full-fledged takeoff on his special comments.

3. The camera angles were funny though
I love KO's show, but this made me laugh out loud.

2. Oh, very good! Thanks for posting. this much-needed laugh.
Can hardly wait to see Keith's take on it. I believe he mentioned he had "stopped by SNL" in case his tech support was needed. Not sure if it he did or it was, but Ben did just fine. Clearly a KO fan!

I voted Obama/Biden '08!

4. AFFLECK was amazing. I know this is contrarian. To Hades with the flames.
The operational principle is "freethinking." That is the core of being a Democratic adherent.

I'm glad for Keith, that he's on our side, as with almost *anybody* else who is. But I echo a DUer who said, "He's *our* shill, but he's still a shill."

I'd rather monitor the enemy than to sit in an echo chamber.

AFFLECK was breathtaking in his willingness to caricature somebody on the same side. As far as the voice and the appearance, they weren't there. But the over-the-top quality taken OVER THE TOP were fantastic theater.

5. On appearance, they missed one thing:
EYEBROWS! Affleck needed bushier eyebrows.

6. I actually wanted a parody of Keith but this one had all the production values
but lacked substance. Keith, god love him, wouldn't mind a good ribbing himself but
this sketch didn't fire on all cylinders.

9. I thought Affleck's performance was less Keith Olberman and more Maury Chaykin as Nero Wolfe.

11. lol
I can see it.

Affleck would have had to have been jowlier, though.

Now I won't be able to watch KO without thinking of Chaykin. Who would be Archie? (Please don't pick Chris the Cillizzard.)

10. I loved it.
I thought Ben Affleck perfectly captured Keith's sputtering bombast. The camera angles were funny, too.
