6. The Revolution Starts NOW
Steve Earle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG8ZUaLACZ8

I was walkin’ down the street
In the town where I was born
I was movin’ to a beat
That I’d never felt before
So I opened up my eyes
And I took a look around
I saw it written ‘cross the sky
The revolution starts now
Yeah, the revolution starts now

The revolution starts now
When you rise above your fear
And tear the walls around you down
The revolution starts here
Where you work and where you play
Where you lay your money down
What you do and what you say
The revolution starts now
Yeah the revolution starts now

Yeah the revolution starts now
In your own backyard
In your own hometown
So what you doin’ standin’ around?
Just follow your heart
The revolution starts now

Last night I had a dream
That the world had turned around
And all our hopes had come to be
And the people gathered ‘round
They all brought what they could bring
And nobody went without
And I learned a song to sing
The revolution starts now

7. Fanfare for the Common Man
by Aaron Copeland, then I'll probably put on some of the rousing music of John Williams from Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Rock out with Aerosmiths "Dream On", Neil Young's "Rocking in the Free World" - even though some of the lyrics are dated,

R O C K in the USA

Jefferson Airplane's "Volunteers" (okay, I'm old)

8. Curtis Mayfield, Move On Up
They played the full 8 minute or so version of this song several times during the Obama rally we attended in Minneapolis February 2.

"Move On Up" on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTY6Nbl12ek&feature=related

The Obama event in Minneapolis sold out in 24 hours. It was an amazing day, and there were more happy faces there than I have ever seen.

http://wcco.com/local/barack.obama.minneapolis.2.644359.html

We were seated a few rows down from the Obama sign in the background.

We Are, by Din Fiv
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 02:42 PM by patriotvoice
One world, two sides.
Who is wrong, who is right?
What's yours, what's mine?
Only shades of black and white.

One self, two minds.
One desires: one decides.
What is wrong, what is right?
Only shades of black and white.

We are young,
We are old,
We are helpless,
We are strong,
We are islands in an endless sea.

We are lost,
We are found,
We are hunter and the hunted,
We are objects of obscurity.

One life, little time,
No one knows the reason why.
People come, people go:
Here today, gone tomorrow.

We are alive,
We're not alone.
We can survive,
If we are one.
In a million years,
Are we still victims of our fear?

We are free to believe
that which we will become.
We are day, we are night.
We are death, we are life.
We are skin, we are blood.
We are hate, we are love.

We are fire, we are stone.
We are flesh, we are bone.
We are moon, we are sun.
We are tool, we are gun.
We are rain, we are snow.
We are reap, we are sow.
We are rich, we are poor.
We are peace, we are war.

We are Heaven.
We are Hell.
We are.

52. Rise Up and Together
Rise Up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGtS2-a4CBI

Rise up,
Don't falling down again
Rise up,
Love like I broke the chains

I tried to fly a while so high
Direction: sky!
I tried to fly a while so high
Direction: sky!

My dream is to fly
Over the rainbow, so high!
My dream is to fly
Over the rainbow, so high!
My dream is to fly
Over the rainbow, so high!
My dream is to fly
Over the rainbow, so high!
Eh...

Together
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGtS2-a4CBI

More bad news on the radio
Planet Earth she's about to explode, yeah.
The stars have lost their shine today
They have all been blown away
Together, only hope can be away

Let me hear you say

One day, we'll be together
We'll never be apart,
One heart, one mind yeah
One day we'll be together
Remember this old world is yours and mine (yeah)

Time to put that mix mp3 together.

56. How on earth could I forget Eddie Veder, Here's to the State and No More!
A remake of Phil Och's classic, and a tribute.

Here's to the judges of John Roberts,
Who wear the robe of honor in a phony legal form,
And justices are stranger when the partisans report,
When the court elected a president it was the beginning of this war,

Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
John Roberts find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the government of Dick Cheney,
With criminals posing as advisors to the crown,
And they hope that no one sees the sites or that no one hears the sounds,
Cause the speeches of our president are the remains of a clown

Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
Dick Cheney find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the churches of Jerry Falwell,
Oh the cross once made of silver now is turned to rust,
And the sunday morning services preach in fear of men in love,
And God only knows in heaven they must trust

Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
Jerry Falwell find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the laws of Alberto Gonzalez,
Congress will pass an act in the panic of the day,
And the Constitution's drowning in an ocean of decay,
And freedom of speech is dangerous i've even heard them say,

Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
Gonzalez find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the businessmen of George W,
Who'll want to change the focus from Halliburton to Enron
And their profits like blood money spilled out on the white house lawn,
To keep their hold on power they're using terror as a con,
While the bombs they fall on children dont know which side...dont care which side that they're on

Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
George W find yourself another country to be part of

Here's to the land you've torn out the heart of,
George W find yourself another country to be part of

59. Rise! by the Flobots
So much pain we
Dont know how to be but angry
Feel infected like weve got gangrene
Please dont let anybody try to change me
Me
Just me
In the middle of a sea full of faces
Full of faces
Some laugh some salivate
Whats in your alleyway
Recycling bins or bullet cases
Its not equal
Its not fair
Were different people
But were not scared
We aint never scared
To pave a new path
Make a new street
Build a new bridge
Say can you see by the dawns early light
Free slaves running
Songs words werent right
Now a new days coming
The few stay stunning while the many are handsome
Your soul is alive but they want it for ransom
The base drumming is the anthem
We step to the heartbeats of our granddaughters and grandsons
And

Rise together we

Lost hope and found need
Grounded by our surroundings
Did the walls scream universities
Or you and i verse the tees
React automatic and we burst when squeezed
And make 9-11 each emergency
Urgency amber to red like the turning leaves
Oh please let the hurting cease
Don't let apathy police the populace
We will march across
Those stereotypes that were marked for us
The answers obvious
We switch the consonants
Change the sword to words and lift continents

If you believe in redemption
I'm calling to you from another dimension

67. Damn! I stayed up till 3 a.m.
making iTunes rich and burning a special CD for a gathering I'm holding tomorrow night. With all these great suggestions, I'll be working on it again tonight!

So far:

Monster (will replay as people arrive)
The Star-Spangled Banner (a straightforward version, for the moment it's called; my country will be reclaimed)
Dancin' in the Streets
War (as a reminder)
Celebrate (Three Dog Night)
As (Stevie Wonder)
What's Goin On
Your Wildest Dreams (Moody Blues)
Get Together (Youngbloods)
Saturn (Stevie Wonder)
Amen (Harry Belafonte)
Out in the Country (Tribute to my longtime hero, President Al Gore)
Joy to the World (hmmm, didn't know I liked Three Dog Night that much!)
The Star-Spangled Banner (Hendrix)

For just plain nasty fun, I'm thinking of adding "Low Rider" to usher the Palin bunch back to Alaska.

You guys have such good ideas, looks like I'll need to start over... how could I have forgotten "Here Comes the Sun"?

68. Frank Zappa's entire "Broadway The Hard Way" album
In it he completely skewers the Reagan / Bush regime and everyone having to do with the current administration. The album was way ahead of its time considering it was recorded in 1988.

70. Redemption Song - Bob Marley
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 04:47 PM by whoneedstickets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJHgMD1S0bg&feature=related

Old pirates, yes, they rob i;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took i
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the and of the almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Wont you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? ooh!
Some say its just a part of it:
We've got to fulfill de book.

Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs,
Redemption songs,
Redemption songs.
