I am an "Ignorant Di*khead" because I support same sex marriages!
Excerpt from a slice of time in the Silicon Valley, CA

I was with a friend of mine, sipping coffee at Peet's, talking about how stressed out we were running up to election day and this woman comes up to us and says - "Here is something important". It was a flier for "Vote Yes to restore traditional marriage".

What I deduced from here appearance - Well dressed, probably out after Sunday morning Church; and out on her mission in keeping religion's authority on morality.

After glancing through the flier, I turned to her with a smile and asked - "do you know that equal rights laws are what allowed women to vote, protected them from sexual harassment in offices and allowed the Japanese to own land?"

She was furious at this point, grabbed the flier from my hand and walked away while saying - "What an ignorant dickhead". At this point, she was about four feet from me, so I raised my voice and said - "I am glad I was able to get through to you".

My friend and I then went back to tasting our coffees after nodding our heads in disbelief and a hearty laugh. :-)

1. Obviously not.
Any one who think being gay is a "life style choice" is an ignorant dickhead.

4. Jesus, I think the ignorant dickhead can't recognize herself in the mirror! I'm SO f-ing
tired of these 'moral authority' ... dickheads. I'm hetero, but have a few gay friends, and I wish these people would just go back to their f-ing caves or wherever they came from. Gay Marriage Should Be Allowed, Damn it!!! It doesn't affect ANYONE else's marriage, but of course most of us on here already know that... sorry, just ranting...

23. I'm so with you! I think that's what pushes my buttons more than anything--these "Bringers of Moral
Authority". Who the fuck do they think they are? Most of 'em are so ignorant, they wouldn't know the teachings of Jesus if they were banged on the head with the Apocrypha, yet they purport to spread his word and create a belief system for all of us.

I really hate these people. They are either really incurious and lazy-brained (they want easy answers, and will relinquish control of their own lives for them) or else they're con artists who manipulate those from the former catagory.

I look really forward to the days when fairy tales, shadowy authority figures who promise humanity an eternity in lakes of fire, and rabid ignoramouses are no longer in control of social standard setting! :grr: :grr: :grr:

:hi:

If we only had more ignorant dickeads like you, I wouldn't have to spend scads of money to protect my belongings and my life and my decisions from the true IDs.

Again, a hearty welcome!

and business associates and even acquaintances that I never get mail from.

Let's beat these mofos and send them packing!

Having noticed the number of Asian churches in the area, yes.

Having attended Vietnamese weddings and baptisms in the area, yes.

25. It was both.
However, the Japanese were more active in farming in California, which made the land issues more prominent. Famously, the issei (first generation Japanese-Californians) deeded their land to the nisei (their American-born children) to avoid laws against "aliens" in general owning land. The Chinese were more active building urban businesses like laundries and restaurants, and thus faced a different set of discriminatory laws.

13. I live in California, and I've gotten two "yes on 8" phone calls.
It was a real person both times, not a robocall. After they identified themselves, I said roughly, "I'm not interested in anything you have to say. If every gay person in the world got married tomorrow, it would not change my life or yours one iota." Then I hang up. I'm not interested in debating them.

and get it over with. The argument is exactly the same.

That's why my landline doesn't get answered.

18. People who support prop 8
Should never ever be allowed to use the word ignorant to describe anybody else.

Some day I will figure out why so many people are so obsessed with how other people choose to live their lives.

Why people get so exercised over denying other people rights. As if allowing someone else to marry has any effect whatsoever on them. Any.

Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 05:30 PM by LiberalHeart
Then they'll be divorcing animals. Or several people all at once. This needs to be nipped in the bud.
