Anyone else watching this show on Purity Balls?
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 09:54 PM by margotb822
Sooooooo creepy :scared:

Where do these people come from??

On edit: Shouldn't mothers and son's be involved in this process, too? After all, it seems that the double standard is glaring. Why is it ok for sons to fuck around?

And, yes, they are creepy.

40. I thought the OP said "purty" balls,
which made me . Then I thought of Schwetty Balls from SNL, and :rofl:ed again. It's odd that people as hyper-freaky about sex as these ballers are couldn't come up with a different term for their event...

But when they're held for pleasure
They're the balls that I like best!

12. The woman on now is talking about
how she broke her purity pledge and became pregnant "because she didn't have the education." Hmmm, looks like no matter what people say they're going to do, we need to teach them for what they're actually going to do.

9. Dunno, but I knew one couple who saved all physical contact
for marriage. After a couple of years of the bride wondering what was wrong with her and why she was so repellent, he left her for a man.

Just sayin'. If those hormones aren't raging before the wedding, something else is going on and I don't mean love of Jesus.

14. Wow, that is unfortunate
I was thinking about saving all physical contact for marriage, and I don't think I could do it. Going from not even kissing to being the most intimate in one night? Talk about a burden. I hope they're serving alcohol at those weddings!

19. My college roommate married a guy she hadn't even kissed yet
till the wedding ceremony. They have three kids, so things must have worked out.

I agree with you, though -- those who can "wait till the wedding" aren't that enamored in the first place.

IMHO, YMMV,
Julie

33. I was a groomsman at a good friend's wedding
And the bridesmaid I was paired off with was marrying a Southern Baptist, and she mentioned something during our dance about how this was going to be the most fun and physical contact she was going to have until her wedding. So I did what any normal, all-American boy would do - told her a bunch of Baptist jokes for the entire five minutes we danced.

Why don't Baptists have sex standing up? They're afraid it might lead to dancing! Ba-boom!
Why do you want to take more than one Baptist with you on fishing trips? If you just take one, he'll drink all your beer! Ha-cha!

27. Yea, the hypocrisy is glaring
I also think it's interesting that parents are going so far to "protect" their children from life's experiences. Heartbreak is tough, but finding yourself afterward can be a life-changing experience. No one wants to see someone they love in pain, but to go so far as to stifle life and love seems extreme to me.

34. How can it possibly be healthy
to teach young girls that the only worth they can ever have is an intact hymen on their wedding night. What if a girl is raped? Is she then to see herself as "soiled" and unworthy of a "good man" ever loving her?

None of this can be healthy. And of course boys are never to blame for anything. Having a penis removes all guilt and shame for life I suppose.

Fundamentalists are completely deranged. I pity their poor daughters.

The father "owns" his daughters sexuality? Why on earth is he so obsessed with it?

41. The father blessing his 7 kids is getting off on his patriarchal home environment.
I'm referring to the leader of the purity ball.. the guy who's daughters
were smiling at him with hero worship... The oath of the fathers mentioned
that the men were chief priest of their home. I'm seen this kind of crap
before. Males who get off on seeing their family as a subservient group within the home.
