Sacha Baron Cohen crashes anti-gay "yes on 8" rally

LOS ANGELES — Sacha Baron Cohen went undercover as his alter ego Bruno on Sunday by crashing a rally in support of a ballot measure that would ban gay marriage in California.

The British comedian is working on a film based on the fictional character Bruno, a gay Austrian fashion reporter who conducted gag interviews on HBO's "Da Ali G Show."

Cohen, in disguise in a blond wig and preppy outfit, marched with demonstrators who support Proposition 8 while being trailed by cameras in a rally across from City Hall.

When photographers and reporters realized who he was and tried to approach the star, members of his film crew tried to shield him, and he was eventually whisked away in a van.

Cohen, who has made a career out of filming unwitting victims of his fake identities, also played a journalist in the hit movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan."

4. I get to see them all too often

A gaggle of Yes on 8 supporters have staked out the corner nearest Angel Stadium and wave their signs (and blow whistles) at drivers going through the intersection with such statements as protecting religious freedom and experiencing ecclesiastical extasy whenever someone honks their horn in sympathy to their cause.

The there's the kids they have with them ...

5. Reminds me of the town where I live
The only difference though is that there's a full on barrage of people on every corner, all of them "Yes on 8" or "No on 8." For the past couple days, there have literally been 40-50 people on the corners of EACH major intersection.

What I love though is that most of the "Yes on 8" supporters are clearly church-going citizens, although most adults. The "No on 8" supporters are people who look like they're single or in a relationship without kids, or they're young adults (15-30). It's saddening though to see kids of "Yes on 8" supporters spouting the same bigotry, which I've witnessed at my school.

2. Always loved Bruno more than Borat

3. Sacha Baron Cohen's great at making people look like jackasses...
I almost died when Cohen as Borat gave Bob Barr the cheese made from breast milk.
