So.... What will all the blogs & forums do? |
|
After we remove the Repukes from the white house, what will they do?
No Bush. No Cheney. No Neo-Con control.
I mean... are there any blogs out there that were pre-Dubya?
What do we do without the bad guys to stop? (aside from rejoice)

We will see the GOP playing the blame game and feeling prosecuted but the mean Democrats who will be abusing their power. As with the Democrats, we are pretty good at tearing each other apart,

2. There's a lot that still needs to be done |
|
Getting some kind of Truth and Reconciliation commission to look at the last 8 years and make sure it can't happen again, for one.
Making sure that all the loopholes and weaknesses and voting irregularities can never happen again for two.
Making sure bush, cheney, et.al. haven't gotten away with murder for three.
Whole lot of other things I'm too tired and burned out to think about right now as well.

So the two parties are Green & Dem and the Republicans become the fanatical fringe.

You will spend a great deal of time fighting to protect President Obama from attacks by Republicans and by a non-liberal media.
The attacks on him will start on Day One, and they will be relentless. Those of us who were politically aware during the Clinton years will attest to the horrible attacks on Bill and Hillary.
They even said that the Clintons hung the WH Christmas tree with condoms, and that Chelsea was molested by Bill, yada yada yada.
Some of the attacks are ridiculous. Some are dead serious and mean to hamstring the guy and prevent a second term. If nothing else, he will have difficulty getting out his message and making things happen.

5. They will still be there--after Clinton-there was Gingrich. |
|
There will be oppositon, and I expect some of the opposition to Obama and a Democratic-held Congress to be even freaky at times. Also, there will still be Fox News, talk radio pundits, and people who attack the Church/state divide. I think some blogs, like "Smirking Chimp" might consider a name update? Or maybe not, to acknowledge the "smirking Chimp" that lurks in the hearts of all who are regressive, yet smug?
Sites with "Bush" in their name may have a problem.
But sites like DU--still "Underground"? Well, maybe a little. After all, just because we have more representation, doesn't always mean our respresentatives will be "representing"--I think there's still work to do.

10. LOL.. But hey, there may be some truth to that |
|
He needs to be seen as someone to pull to the left, and he is in a position where it can be more easily done after he wins. He can't be seen as everyone's instant friend immediately if transformative change needs to happen.

whole Senate and House, I'll be even more rabid. It's time to get something done in this country.
I love Obama dearly, but he will not be immune.

7. Well. For One Thing.... |
|
we had better support DU because most of us would never have gotten through a lot of events these last 8 years without it. From the aftermath of the 2000 election, somewhere in February 2001, I found this site through a link from some other site. I lurked for a long time before joining to post. When I got to the office after hearing about 9-11 in rush hour traffic, I immediately ran to my desk and pulled up DU. DU has been a beacon for us to get through some horrid things, political and non-political. Funny, but I will always remember DemoTex for his posting during 9-11 giving us information about the planes while he grieved for friends on board. I would hope that the boards, DailyKos, Huffington Post, all those who have fought for all the right things, will be supported by all of us. And, may these forums and blogs keep our new administration...the Obama administration...on it toes.

I wouldn't worry about what the blogs and forums are going to do after the election. Compared to fixing all the disasters that Bush and Cheney have done to America, electing Obama as President will be the easy part.

If the left is pacified after Obama winning, that could be a disaster. Remember, without Huey Long and others pushing FDR, we may of never seen the magnitude of the New Deal materialize for the betterment of the society. Look at politicalcompass.org just for a historical reference of past and current leaders. Have no doubt that there is work to do, but Obama is the person to do it with. Being complacent is not the answer

11. There'll be lots to do. |
|
We'll need to constantly push Obama and the legislature to do the right things and to not succumb to corruption.
We'll need to work at uncovering and proving the criminal activities of the last 8 (or longer) years.
We'll need to keep an eye on and expose the activities of the criminals who will immediately begin new efforts to get back into power.
We'll need to counter and debunk all of the lies and smears that will surely be directed at Obama and other Democrats.
We'll need to clear our own party as much as possible of criminality and corruption.
We'll need to educate the public, in particular those who are still voting Republican, and show them where and how they've been lied to and misled.
We'll need to push hard for election reform, protection of the right to vote, and PAPER BALLOTS for all elections.

Also, no doubt the 'Chicago Project' (similar to the Arkansas) project begins on Nov. 5 by the right-wing noise machine. We have to expose the idiocy for what it is...
No, our work is just beginning.

Laugh at Freeperville?
In all seriousness though, the right wing will bash Obama, he will make a few decisions that are not generally approved on DU and the economy could well be a major problem.
This is all assuming that Obama wins of course. I have no wish to count my chickens.
