Everybody cheer on the Steelers tonight
The Washington Redskins always plays Monday night football on the eve of the Presidential election. They have predicted the winner of the election by whether they win or lose the game. If Washington wins then the incumbant party wins the election. If the other team wins then the opposite candidate wins. This tradition has rang true for over 75 years, with the only exception being in 2000 when Bush stole the election.

For any superstitious people out there, we need to cheer for the Steelers. By the way, both Obama and McNasty will be on during halftime. Go Steelers!!!!:headbang:

5. The Washington Redskins haven't been a team for 75 years, at least not in Washington

and Monday night football hasn't been around but 30 or so years.

7. Sorry, I'm a 'skins fan, got to go with them..
there's never been a black man running, and we need to break that superstition...I'm pretty tired of that one anyway.

10. Funny you should mention black man running in the same breath.
Ernie Davis sure didn't run for them.

While the rest of the league desegregated in 1946, the Red Skins didn't get around to signing a black player (Bobby Mitchel)until 1962!

"Fight for old Dixie," um, I mean "old DC."

14. Absolutely. George Preston Marshall was a serious racist...
and that tradition was broken long ago. Go to a 'skins game these days, and the audience is 50/50 caucasian and AA.

9. In my football pool I picked my team over the redskins...
Parker is back tonight, and I don't think the Redskins D has enough to bring pressure to Ben.

12. I am so torn on this one
See, if the Steelers loose, the Ravens (Go Ravens!) will be top of their division, being only half a game behind the Steelers. But on the other hand, I really don't want the Redskins to win either. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I'm a Cleveland Browns fan. Think about it. We can root against just this once and root for them the next 2 times. :)

25. the redskins do not "always" play the Monday night game on election eve
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 04:11 PM by onenote
2004: Monday game (Nov. 1): Miami Dolphins at N.Y. Jets

2000: Monday game (Nov. 6) Vikings v. Packers

1996: Monday game (Nov. 4) Brocos v. Raiders

1992: Monday game (Nov. 2) Vikings v. Bears

1988: Monday game (Nov. 70 Browns v. Oilers

I could keep looking them up, but I think the point is made.
