I don't understand why people get so worked up over Freeps

I am a newbie here, so I am sure someone will clue me in.

I see the entertainment and "wow, unbelievable" factor in discussing crazy posts by them, but I don't get why so many people get so worked up. That includes the usual "Don't post that here!" posts.

Just like a forum "ignore", just like tuning out Rush or Hannity, just like changing the channel to another station, if it bothers you that much don't read it. If people discussing them here bothers you that much, move on to the next thread.

It just hit me when I see so many posts devoted to the freeper reaction to Obama's GM. On hearing or her death my first reaction wasn't to see what they were saying, but to think of him and that she had to have known he was going to be elected if she was coherent towards the end.

I guess if I was here years ago, I would better understand the almost rabid connection to FR (by some, not all).
