Florida, Where Are You? Hello?

By Greg Sargent - November 3, 2008, 9:21AM

Uh oh. Not a whole lot of crowd enthusiasm at John McCain's first event today in Florida, as per the St. Petersburg Times's political blog:

About 30 minutes before John McCain is scheduled to lead a rally outside Raymond James Stadium, looks like maybe 1,000 people here. What's up with that? On the day before the election? Bush drew at least 15,000 people to a rally just across the street on the Sunday before the 04 election.

"We are the quiet majority that goes out and gets things done..I smell victory,'' said state Rep. Kevin Ambler. Good thing he smells it, because it's hard to see it with this crowd.

2. They're the quiet majority
Oh, and McCain's supporters all have jobs, so that's why they couldn't make the rally. See?

6. If 6% more Rs turnout in five key states tomorrow, McCain wins. They're not maniacs, but they vote.
It is this simple tomorrow. If five swing states average only 4% higher McCain turnout, McCain wins.

We know which five need how much better turnout to flip!! And so does McCain. You can COUNT on it!

8. About the same in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that about 1500 people greeted him at the airport. I broke down and gave them some traffic even though they packed Monday's print edition in the "Vote for Freedom" NRA bag (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/2/11145/7505). I'm never reading their paper again. Fuck them. I can get my Pittsburgh Steeler news elsewhere. On the plus side, when the page loaded, a giant, smiling Barack Obama appeared at the top telling me to VOTE! But back to the Post-Gazette -- fuck them.
