This has been my place to bitch and moan and vilify the Resmuglicans for the last FIVE YEARS. Now that it looks like the cretins are going to be sent down river after tomorrow, what will become of this place?

I also wonder what it's going to be like for the first time in 8 years not to have to waste energy thinking about the sinister administration. All that negative energy will now be able to be channeled into positive avenues.

YEAH!

1. It's going to be amazing!
We will use our power to do good instead of fight evil. Not that we won't have to fight evil, but there will be a lot less of it.

2. Football pools and recipe sharing.
Just kidding!

Although it will be great to be rid of the criminal Bush Administration. I joined in 2002, so I don't know life at DU without Bush.

Looking forward to it, though.

6. i'll probably migrate
to the anti-war and 911 truth forums...but i'll be here.

in all seriousness, i think that the way things are demands that every citizen be engaged from here on out, and i plan to be. it's my children and my grandchildren and their children for whom i will do this. there's a lot of wrong to make right. justice to pursue. and there will still be conservative idiots, there has to be, right?

7. We will have to continue on the cases of the Democrats.
No, they won't do as much as we want, as fast as we want. Yes, they will play politics. So, we can coordinate and cooperate in working to help them help us.

14. DU is still an important meeting place
There are plenty of people stuck in red states who will need support. There will be plenty of Republicans left in office for us to discuss. There will be plenty of Bush policies we can talk about doing away with. DU is a Dem think tank. Conservative think tanks don't go out of business when they have power. They gear up and produce position papers for government. They influence legislation and policy. Maybe that's our next step.

19. We're gonna bitch and moan and vilify EVERYBODY now. It'll be equal opportunity kvetching.
Some will be vilifying the Democratic Administration for not being liberal enough, not moving fast enough on their pet issues, caving to "Dems in Congress," etc.

Some will be vilifying the Democratic-controlled Congress for not being liberal enough, not moving fast enough on their pet issues, caving to the "centrist Dem Administration," etc.

Some will be vilifying the Democratic Administration for being too liberal, for blowing the chance to get moderate GOPpies on board, for bucking Congressional leadership, etc.

Some will be vilifying the Democratic-controlled Congress for being too liberal, for alienating the moderate vote and blowing 2010-- in which you can bet we will lose some seats, no matter what-- for bucking Administration leadership, etc.

A few will be vilifying various GOPpies, especially the Supremos.

EVERYONE will be vilifying the RW nutbags and woolhats and carpers and grinders and suchlike.

Don't worry.

We're Dems.

Nothing will change, really.

helpfully,
Bright

21. hah! The same...
At least in the latest breaking news section. Even people who agree will always find reasons to disagree with each other. :P
Plus there will always be the gun issues, hunting, meat/tree eating, smoking, and whatever else that are always very divisive issues even amongst progressives. Oh, and there are some who think that Obama is not liberal enough or that he was somehow created by the republicans(not too sure how common this is, but I've seen various variations of this at various points...although I'm assuming fairly rare)... And until Operation Twinkle Toes is fully completed, there are still going to be republicans roaming around the streets. So we'll still have them to shakes our fists in anger at. :P

Ohhh, and I'm sure some republicans will be working hard trying to come up with ways to impeach Obama for masturbating in the oval shower or something...

Not robbing them. Literally rolling them over. Not as much fun as baiting freepers here, but it's something to do to pass the time....

23. I'd be gearing up for the real fight ...
ya think it's going to be any easier???

It's going to be exponentially worse ... and a lot of infighting here will let the Righties laugh at us.

Remember when people were saying here that Obama was getting an easier time? Once it was set to be him, the media took off what gloves they had ...

Now, with a win tomorrow (especially with a landslide win, E.C. AND popular), the media will be really nasty ... and if Obama hasn't turned around the recession and erased the deficit and singlehandedly caught Osama bin Laden and brought him into custody - BEFORE 1/20/2009 - they're going to go for the jugular ...

27. We will all spend a lot of time having to defend President Barack Obama
The Republicans will lose, but they will not change. Think about the reception they gave Bill Clinton as he walked into the Oval Office after defeating George H.W. Bush*. Republicans are "experienced" at putting out the "welcome mat" to Dems who defeat Republicans, and THEY WILL BE AFTER BARACK OBAMA. Not all Republicans, just the hard core tried and true who will constantly try to antagonize him. Barack Obama will need all the support he can get from us throughout his terms. Biden, as well.

Sam
