in Northern Virginia was from Sierra Leone. He's a citizen, he's registered, and he's voting for Obama. On our trip, he pointed out to me that Obama is not just a half-black man, he is a HALF AFRICAN black man. I confess, I'd never given that any conscious thought, although I knew his father was from Kenya.
We had a great, rousing conversation during the trip. Lots of dissing McPOW and Palin. And then we got to my place, and as we said goodbye, I said, "Don't forget to vote tomorrow."
He smiled at me, such a wide, broad smile, and he said "I'm going to the Obama rally in Manassas tonight."
Manassas is about 20 miles SW of here.
I said, "I'm so jealous."
He said, "I shall think of you while I'm there."
Obama is making his last campaign appearance here in Northern Virginia, and my cab driver will be there, cheering for him, thinking of me.
Perfect.

Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 10:26 PM by SidDithers
but at least you're there in spirit :)
There have been so many wonderful stories of complete strangers being brought together because of their support for Obama. It makes this Canadian a bit sad to be an observer and not a direct participant. For all the warts in the American political process, when it's done right, it's a beautiful thing to behold.
Enjoy the vote tomorrow :hi:

I have found some remarkable people. Especially here at DU.
Of course, the pole dancing and the crushed larynx have put some crimps in the relationships, not to mention the swollen joints experienced by one, but, yes, you're quite right. I am most fortunate.
Of course, lest we forget, I am also the Queen Of Bulgaria.
Wanna see my wand?

I would not deign to raise my forehead from the floor long enough to view the Royal Crown, the State Sword, the Royal Orb, the Royal Sceptre or the Royal Wand. And I prostrate myself in gratitude at your Royal Generosity of Spirit. Since I cannot speak because of larynx problems (getting better, thanks for asking)

19. Usually the word expecting, used at the end of a sentence |
|
Is in the form of such such or so and so expecting a child.
So I wondered if it might read.
I just heard that Gramps rally in Tampa was expecting, Sarah to deliver another baby.
But then again, maybe it was only funny to me.
