Exit polls when we have early voting?
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 05:41 AM by krumpli
How could they be accurate?

Isn't this just another way to make us believe McCain did better than polls suggested?

1. Good point.
With so many early voters how could exit polls be worth anything?

2. The networks are apparently doing a phone poll to find early voters
They will somehow then blend those numbers with the traditional exit poll. Personally I would think it a miracle if the hybrid phone/exit poll is remotely accurate.

3. They can't be serious. This is a joke.
And since Obama won the early vote exit polls will show in many states that McCain won.

:grr:

5. The hybrid poll is the one that will be released as "the" exit poll

4. It is interesting that polling tends to be the worse when new communication
technologies are introduced. Let's see, we have cell phones and the internet. Don't put a lot of trust in the polls.

7. Apparently you presume that early voters vote differently than voting-day voters
Why would you think that people who vote early for any one of a zillion reasons might vote differently than people who go to the polls on the appointed day? If the voting patterns are the same, and there is no reason to think they are not, then the exit polls will still be accurate.

8. In NC it is a virtual certainty that they will
urban voters had more early places to choose from and faced longer lines today if they didn't. So it was a very big advantage to early vote. For rural voters there was one or two places and not nearly the long lines on election day.
