I got to the polling place at 6:30 and there was about 75 or so in front of me. |
|
By the time they opened at 7:00, the line was at least 200 long!
After voting I spoke with two Obama campaign workers (who were the required 100 feet away from the doors) and they both expressed confidence he would carry Florida.
I certainly hope so.
BTW, They used an optical scan reader. I got no receipt and there was no way to verify that my vote was tallied the way I filled in the ballot.

I was the 19th person in line. By 6am the line had doubled. By 7am the line had quintupled. I used a touch screen and there was no way to confirm my ballot had been recorded.
My next door neighbor had been there since 5:15am. She was the 4th person in line.

2. With Optical Scan, the ballot is.. |

your receipt, and a recount is possible. 18 States have now legislated a standard audit after every election to check the tally of the computerized tabulator. I think that's a step in the right direction.

4. Fair enough. I suppose I was just a little concerned that there was no immediate verification. |

I went about 8:00 a. m. and was back home by 8:15. I had about 4 or 5 others in front of me.

I waited an hour and one half to vote this morning in VA in the rain. I voted Democrat straight down the line.

this long - blocks long since 6 am this morning. I walked past a few polling places, my own included and decided I had to get to work, but I am going to vote tonight (my district will easily go Obama, but I'm still voting anyway). It's incredible - even though there might be a few McCain lurkers in the lines, these looked like Obama voters - young, energized, optimistic, smiling. There was a palpable energy in the air this morning of optimism and enthusiasm - Please, please let us win this one!! I am not going to be able to concentrate or calm down until I know Obama is our new president.
