People blame Bad Weather on Incumbant Party (NPR) |
|
i was listening to NPR yesterday and they were discussing elections and how/why people vote the way they do.
they mentioned the weather and said that bad weather tends to hurt the party in power.
this kind of made sense when i thought of the undecided and other types who aren't that informed . they aren't sure of who to vote for. things aren't going great, but they aren't sure about the other party. i can see these types being in a bad mood over the weather and then just voting for a change(the party out of power).

1. Sunday on NPR, a PolSci Prof spoke of the study done on the effect of rain |
|
It generally favors repubs. He said they found that for every inch of rain, there was a 1% decrease in turnout, usually dems.

2. does it include years like 1932 , 1976, 1992 ? |
|
when the view of Republicans was very negative. and more so this year than in 1992.
i can see it favoring republicans if candidates were even on favorability. but this time it seems different.

http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1065980I'm not sure how far back the study went, but they did claim that rain would have beaten JFK.
