Republicans will block stimulas package if Obama wins
(snip)
Republican ideas include doubling the child tax credit and temporarily scrapping the capital gains tax.

"If (Republican John) McCain wins, I think we'll definitely get a stimulus in the lame duck," said Anne Mathias, policy director of research for the Stanford Group, a policy research firm. If Democrat Barack Obama wins, Mathias put the odds at 50% or less that Congress will pass a bill.

Mike Steel, an aide to House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said the Republicans would prefer to pass a stimulus bill that didn't include extensions in unemployment benefits, food stamps and infrastructure projects, arguing they take too long to effectively boost the economy.

But it's OK to give Billions to Wall Street, or Military Contractors in Eye-Rack?

WTF is wrong with people in America? It is so obvious who the Greedy Oil Party represents..

1. After January 1 there won't be enough Republicans left to block much of anything
That is why we have elections, in part to remove obstructionists.

4. what's the point of a stimulus check?
When we got the stimulus check in May we used it to go to Chicago-we hadn't taken a vacation in about 7 years. I asked my husband if we got another check,if would save it- he said yes.

6. Depends On Whose Left Standing...
Something needs to be done...and if there's a big Democratic win tonight, it will be used to push through a bill and I don't see many repugnicans be able to stop it. Pelosi already has the votes in the House and I even see 60 votes in the Senate (yes, even with current GOOPers)...a wild card here is if Prune Face O'Connell loses...if that's the case the GOOP will be decapitated and in total shutdown.

7. Of course the repubs will block any stimulus package if Obama wins,
in their mind, stimulus packages are meant to boost repub prospects, not to improve the lot of the average American. The first stimulus package was just that, to help repubs in the eyes of the people. Once Obama wins, there will no longer be any need for a stimulus package, since the voters will have already spoken.
