They became line friends and just chatted small talk for awhile but then apparently each decided that the other was a fellow McCain supporter. One of them said that they had never seen a line like todays in all the many years they had been coming to the polling place. The other guy agreed and said there were a lot of "new" voters. (Sidenote - it's true that the line was bigger than anything I have ever seen and it is usually 95% older white people and today there were oodles of both young folks and minorities)

Then one guy sighed and said, "Well, I hope they all get a big surprise tonight." And the other guy agreed. And then one of them said, "Well, I just bought a gun." And then they had a brief discussion about guns in general.

Now, exactly why the f!@# did this guy tie together an Obama win with the need for a gun?! To do what with? It was just so breathtakingly stupid. I guess he has visions of "liberals" running amok through the neighborhood and demanding that he share his Lawrence Welk collection and his wife's tuna noodle casserole with them.

I put my phones on the "Do Not Call" list years back and haven't been bothered. Only one robocall for Dole. Boy did they get an earfull, starting with "This phone is on do-not-call and you can tell her to take her wrinkled, saggin' ass back to Kansas". It got more creative from there until I got "click" in response. Felt pretty good, actually :)

...from our fellow citizens in this crimson town. The popular rumor is that African-Americans are going to riot whether Obama wins or loses. One of my wife's coworkers told her yesterday that she heard "all the gun shops have sold out."

Another person upstate was told to take tomorrow off by her boss. He said he was going to keep his children at home on Wednesday and advised her to do the same. We keep hearing the letters "OJ" and the words "Rodney King" over and over.

It all relates to the meme that African-Americans "are no better than animals."
