In Maryland, voting went smoothly, but the machine that tabulated broke
Montgomery County, Maryland - Just got to work from voting. Lots of people in line, they had a few signs outside for McCain/Palin and other Dem candidates, but not one single person there. The dems had a democratic sample ballot and a very nice person answering questions. The line when the polls opened snaked around the parking lot when the polls opened from what the poll workers said. Everything was organized and the lines moved.

HOWEVER, the voting machine for hearing and vision impaired broke down. I had a dog walking friend who was working at the polls this year, he was very bored, incharge of the provisional ballots. They only had 8 so far. He is a republican, and I don't know if he realized what he was telling me, but the machine that broke down was the machine that tabulated the votes in the precinct. My eyes got very wide, and he told me that they were "bringing another one out or something". I asked if any votes had been tabulated so far and what would happen to those. He shut up after that, he probably doesn't know, but he might have realized the implications when I asked that question. I have been at DU for too long not to paranoid about things like that.

Maryland is a pretty reliable blue state, but I wanted to let everybody know about this.
