To Andy, Kef, Nos and so many others who are not with us this day
A toast, deep thanks and many prayers. There are some great DUers here and I shan't even try to list them all. So many helping hands and minds over the past dark years, so many fine people we have met here, so many caring, patriotic Americans who would not be beaten down or silenced. Thanks to all. You held lights in windows, guided many in the dark, taught, fought, dug through the stonewalls to let truth out of dank places. Thanks to all the patriots who love this nation enough to stand up and be counted, and counted on.

But I am just a touch sad that so many of our fine warriors are not with us this day.

Or are they with us still? I shall give thoughts and thanks to their efforts and brave souls.

To hope! And to Andy, Kef, Nos, and so many others! Lift a glass at some point today, for fallen comrades. This is their day as much as it is ours.

Mention them here if you've a mind to.

Who do you wish you could hug today?

Who do you thank?

1. I've always wanted to meet Andy. I'd love to give him a big hug for everything he did.
He stood up to the dark side. He faced it down, even when he was physically ill equipped to challenge them.

He is an American hero. And I know he is very proud of what he's seeing today. I just hope this next Congress finally addresses so many of the voting issues that have plagued our nation for the last decade. It's time to clean up the process and make it more user friendly.

but will always be proud on the way we came together to help Andy in his hour of need.

If I believed in heaven, I would hope that they will welcome with open arms Obama's grandmother.

He was determined to see J.D.Hayworth defeated ... and hung on just long enough to see it. I hope he's looking down from somewhere and is pleased at what he's seeing.

20. In the excitement of today, I can't recall this DUers name....
He was an actor and had a satirical review Off Broadway in New York. He died suddenly because of his diabetes.

I'm remembering him as well, today. He used his talents for progressive causes.

I'm sure you remember him, too, since I joined DU right after you did. So much has happened since we joined, havocmom!

And I am glad you joined here too, eleny. You have enriched us with your humanity and perspective.

39. What I remember of 3 of DU's immortals
Kheph was the rock of DU. Lively and interested in everything. A computer wiz. And friendly to everyone. He took my side in many a late night thread!

Nos who thanklessly gave us all a reason to smile when we felt like slitting our throats by posting all the editorial cartoons worth reading every day for us. He did it for years. No one has ever consistently done what he did since. He was also the one who asked us always to ?W. Always.

Andy beloved and bouncing through the threads on DU like ball lightning! Thank you for the work you did to ensure fair elections in this country. And thank you for showing me how a man faces death with dignity even as he is under fire, hounded by the lowest humans to walk the earth.

I am honored to have called them my friends.

everything from DU to him over the dinner table. He would be so happy to know that Obama will be our new president. Just looking at **** would upset him. He holds the record for speed in hitting the mute button when the idiot was on TV.

I miss him so much, there is consolation in knowing that his favorite candidate will be in the White House.
