Is the US the only place on earth where candidates are allowed
to hold rallies on Election Day? In the English-speaking Caribbean you can't even run ads after midnight.

1. In Canada, we get the typical "candidate casting their vote" coverage
but I can't remember election day campaigning. 'Course our whole campaign was only 6 weeks long. I took a nap and missed half of it. :)

3. Not here
Australian elections are always held on a Saturday, and there is a complete, government-enforced, media blackout on political advertising from midnight on the previous Wednesday until the polls close.

No advertising or reports of political speeches etc. Yes, the "vote for me" posters still stay up on the telephone poles -- and you do get "the Prime Minister spent a quiet day at home, cast his vote this morning, etc" news items -- but effectively campaigning is over once the ban takes effect. What is the point of holding a rally or making a speech if it can't be reported?

The idea is to give the electorate a bit of peace to make up their minds without being pressured.
