The Civil War II
We need to unite as a people and realize that this isn't about Liberals of Conservatives, this is about OUR country. As Barack has said, we are not a collection of red states or blue states, but the United States. It is time for both sides of the equation to see this and stop constantly trying to cut each other down. We deserve better, and our government can be better, but it must start within us.

Try for once to view America through the worlds’ eyes,
Burying the past, robbing us blind, and relentlessly perpetrating lies.
What have these pawns learned since the Great War?
Simplistic concepts like taxes and accountability leave them torn.

A country divided cannot stand, says he,
Rolling in his grave, lamenting the lost progress that all can see.
Our discourse has become nuance-filled with subliminal hate,
You are right, change is coming, Mr. McCain; pray “that one” isn’t too late.

Fanning the flames won’t keep the powder keg calm,
Guess where will be the first bomb?
Another civil war engineered by the Rovian machine,
Eight years stolen and all they pilfered was the American Dream.

When you work just to keep the shirt on your back
You start to realize how much substance this government lacks
Another factory closed down, who will bailout my bills?
They’ve out-sourced everything from call centers to steel mills

The “base’s” disdain for truth brings demise of the academic,
Slipping ever lower globally in education is apparently not a pandemic.
Scorned for their knowledge and feared for their reason,
They ostracize intelligence and denounce it as treason.

Sliding to international obscurity more and more each day,
City upon a hill, we have all lost our way.
They keep you distracted by shadows, smoke, and mirrors,
But on Election Day, oh how they fear us

With legal privatized profits and socialized losses
The outspoken few against it risk being nailed to crosses
Fear in the past has permitted horrible things
Red Scares, Patriot Acts, Internment camps, all take the ‘human’ out of human beings

Doubt and panic cloud the markets stale air,
We must demand freedom from this populous despair.
Systemic manipulation by demagogues laying blame,
Why can’t they see that when we bleed, we bleed the same?
