Wow, there doesn't seem to be much tolerance in this thread. Not surprisingly, Don Imus has supported John McCain pretty much from day one, since he has been a long time friend of the Senator. Imus supported his long time friend John Kerry in '04 as well as Bill Clinton in '92 and brought attention to the situation at Walter Reed hospital so he is not some right wing blowhard like Rush (whom Imus called a "fat, pill-popping loser"). The man runs a charity for children with cancer and raised millions of dollars for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research. His wife Deirdre is the founder and president of the Deirdre Imus Environmental Center for Pediatric Oncology at the Hackensack University Medical Center which conducts research into links between cancers and environmental hazards. She is also involved with the National Autism Association. Despite Imus making an off-color and inappropriate remark (which he was punished very heavily for), it is unfair to paint the man and his wife with the broad villainous strokes that they are being portrayed with here.

Sorry, kindest thing I can think of. I have never cared much one way or the other about Imus. I thought the nappyheaded ho incident was blown up way out of proportion. Not sure what's dumber here: casting a vote based on Obama's association with Wright or making a public statement to that effect. I appreciate the good work that he does with his ranch but he deserves to get hammered for this.
