Another Florida Republican votes for Obama.
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 05:18 PM by lostnfound
A friend called a few hours ago. Told me of a long-time mutual friend -- I'll call her "Sally" -- who has voted Republican in every single election for over 25 years.

Sally was "undecided" until today, but since Sally has always claimed to be "undecided" or "considering the Democrat" in other elections and then gone ahead and stuck with the Republicans, my friend didn't expect any different. And certainly not based on a medical plan, since she has always been adamantly opposed to "socialized" health care.

Sally happened to have a doctor's appointment today, however, and planned to go to the polls afterward -- intending to "make up her mind" in the voting booth. When she got to the doctor's office, they told her that her insurance plan (for which she personally pays several hundred per month) would not pay for her routine annual checkup.

"That's IT, That's WHY -- I'm voting for Obama!" she told them. She immediately rescheduled the appointment, left the doctors, and went straight to the polls..
and..
VOTED..
in FLORIDA..
for...

Obama!

Welcome to the crowd, Sally.

1. Funny how quickly folks are converted
when something affects them personally.

2. That's often the only time any real change is made.
I think it's part ignorance and part human nature.

3. It's sad, isn't it.
But right now I will take Florida votes for any reason. I want my old home state to go blue again.
