Tampa McCain Supporter: Yard signs urge vote based on race
Looking for election info on Tampa and stumbled on this article. A reminder that this is what McCain voters represent.

<SNIP>
St. Petersburg, Fl. - Near the corner of 1st Avenue North and 63rd Street, Mike Williams makes it clear which candidate he's supporting for President, John McCain.

But there are also signs in Williams yard that urge people to vote white, and that's upset a lot of people who pass by here.

"To find this effigy is very, very sad, it feels threatening to me," said Sami Scott who lives in St. Petersburg.

"The tree that's cut down that has a sign above it that says Obama family tree, I basically look at that, it's just missing the rope and the noose. That to me symbolizes hatred. That just should not be allowed in our country," said Michael Cromwell who lives nearby.

I was kind of shocked to stumble on that. I thought Tampa was not the Old South.

3. I saw one of these douche bags in Seminole
today on my way to work. He was on the sidewalk with a sign saying "voting white is not politically incorrect". Everyone keeps talking about the progress we've made, racially, as a country, but I don't see it. Hopefully, I'll see it tonight with a big Obama victory!

4. Whoa.
That is fucking scary.

Even my relatives would be appalled by that, and they've actually argued some of the same sentiments to me in nicer language before. ("I don't understand all the black girls at work, they're all voting for Obama just because he's black...")

Man, that guy has problems. *shudder*

who's at the bottom of the tree! I've known monkeys who are higher on the evolutionary tree/scale than Mike "The 'Fraidy Cat" Williams. He's such a coward :scared: that he drops illiterate notes over the fence as though he's throwing out banana skins!:hide: I'm going to enjoy :D thinking about his misery for the next few years while he's hiding in his homemade jungle gym!

7. Hi Carolann, I agree this is pretty loathsome
I was surprised at how mad it made me.

One of the things we have all experienced through Obama's candidacy is the ugliness of the racism that simmers beneath the surface in every corner of America.

BTW, welcome to DU.
