Report: Pentagon to begin briefing president-elect’s transition team ‘almost immediately.’»

NBC News reports that because “the upcoming political transition will be the first in wartime since Vietnam,” Pentagon officials are prepared to begin briefing the new president-elect’s transition team “almost immediately” after today’s elections. Officials tell NBC that “they intend to expedite the security-clearance process so that transition members would actually be able to sit alongside top Pentagon and military leaders during secure satellite briefings with combatant military commanders from Iraq and Afghanistan.” “We are undertaking Herculean efforts to ensure the transition goes as smoothly and seamlessly as possible,” said one official.

2. Yep. And unlike Bush and Cheney, Obama will actually listen to what the transition team has to say.

8. Good
I am hoping that Obama and his team will be influential enough that they can throw a monkey wrench in the Bush administration's plans for Iran before they leave office. We don't need Shrub and Cheney running around unchecked for the next 4 months starting trouble.

10. I wonder if the military brass will freak out when administration officials
actually ask questions, challenge answers, and hold briefers accountable.

12. No, I think the military brass will be relieved to have a president who listens to them.
Remember how many top military officials have been against Bush, esp. his decision to go to war in Iraq and later in the way that Bush wanted to run that war.

13. The Pentagon will finally
have someone who understands what the hell they're saying, someone who doesn't need to have an interpreter. That's gonna blow their minds.
