I'm going back to being an observer. This is the first thing I started an OP on, and it went straight to hell thereafter.

I'm jinxed.

Same reason I didn't enter the Guess the Electoral Vote contest here.

Ah well ... I have beer and a new President, and I'm gonna volunteer tomorrow to help Shrub move out early if he's so inclined. :)

15. Harris County is going Blue

Not certain of it yet, but it looks good.

In Texas, I mean.

I'm in Harris County and quite happy about this turn of events.

I've never voted in a *county* that went Dem before in a Presidential election, so there's that.

Have to start thinking on the realignment picture in a couple months. That's the way it looks though. Really strong signs.

25. I will enjoy this ...

I'm trying to latch myself to a poli sci student looking for a dissertation thesis and leaning toward this.

And I think we just wrote the epilogue to the book version of the dissertation I'm helping with right now. The broad subject is self-segregation, black towns, its evolution, how that philosophy lost favor, and what it all lead to. Perfect timing.

Some days ... I'm really happy to be alive.

Apparently there was a thread over on Hannity discussing assassination right after Obama passed 270. I'm betting the moderator over there didn't report it to SS either. Real shocker, huh?

33. Y'know, it ain't Al I'm pulling for as much as it is Norm I'm against
He offends the daylights out of me, the way he greased his way into Wellstone's seat after the Repubs harrumphed about Wellstone's memorial not being run the way they liked.

You've heard of the concept of the Uncanny Valley in computer graphics, where subtle flaws in hyper-realistically rendered people are deeply unsettling, creepy even? Norm is the man from the Uncanny Valley. I swear, I can sometimes hear the wind whistling through his suit.

I honestly thought Franken was pulling a joke of some sort at first, and when I realized he was serious, I just wrote it off.

But then I figured out he had a chance at this.

Coleman is an offensive boob, and yes, that is an apt comparison. He freaks me out more than a little.

45. Right, right, RIGHT
I agree totally. Totally.

However, Smokin' Joe may have already sealed that deal for himself -- he went on record with his fears about the "end of America" should the Democrats win today. I'm not kidding. Even if he was the lynchpin, Senator Number 60, he won't help in a filibuster. So, it's time to move his desk to a broom closet, give him a mop, and wish him luck finding busywork for the next 4 years.

48. Yeah, YOU know that ...

... and I know that ...

But there are those Dems who have chairs in that chamber who'll actually vote Dem who nonetheless for some idiotic reason still think this joke is redeemable and would try to pressure to keep him on just for the ratings game. These aren't the most logical people in the world sometimes.

The Republican caucus can have him, if they'll have him. I don't care where he goes really as long as it isn't anywhere near an actual issue.

Obama should give him an ambassadorship ... to somewhere like Burma.

40% of St. Louis County still outstanding....Franken will make up 4.5K there

Trust me. The Coleman camp already knows they lost.

93. Every election is weird
The numbers from different sources are always different. And sometimes the news services are way ahead of the official state sites, which is really disconcerting. Whose numbers do you trust then?

99. Damn
I can't say I'm the biggest Al Franken fan. Liked his work on SNL, and his book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot". Thought his radio show on Air America was way too DLC oriented and frankly boring for morning programming.

But Norm Coleman is a carpetbagging piece of shit who capitalized on the death (most likely murder) of a true liberal hero named Paul Wellstone, and that son of a bitch needs to disappear now. And if Al can go home and claim Minnesota - even though he's nowhere as liberal as Paul - then so be it!

Come on, Stuart Smalley... You're good enough, you're smart enough, and everybody likes you more than Coleman!

108. I'm using this at CNN
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/individual/#MNS01

Which is showing slightly older numbers AND a mere 1000 or so spread between them. There hasn't been a 1000 pt spread in a good while on the SOS site. So where are CNN's numbers coming from? It's what I was talking about earlier.

113. I wonder how many provisional ballots were cast
I think we're headed for a recount no matter what. 1/2 of one percent I think triggers an automatic recount.

Though I note with dread that Coleman just jumped ahead by 1500 on CNN's projection, too.

I know, I know... calm down. :)

114. Now CNN has fresher numbers
Larger numbers, anyway. And Al's ahead by 2000. SOS has him 7000 behind. BOTH reporting 98% counted (97.99% on the SOS site). Who's got the right numbers? The usual weirdness...

CNN still has Al ahead, marginally this time. SOS has him behind by about 6000.

It's nice someone has him consistently ahead, but who's right?
