1. I believe that they do a special election.

Palin may be able to name someone as interim.

I don't think she would appoint herself (but she might yet run for the open seat, should the Senate act).

Of course, Stevens still has to win, lets all keep our fingers and toes crossed that he doesn't win.

The governer used to appoint until Frank Murkowski appointed his daughter.

The last poll I saw out of Alaska post-conviction had Stevens losing by double digits. I don't think he can win.

and could win. The repugs will support her and the Dems would vote just to get her out of the state.
