*********AHEM! CAN I GET EVERYONE'S ATTENTION FOR THIS SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT?******** |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 01:50 AM by Jamastiene
I now live in a blue state. I never thought I would be able to say that, but it's true. :wow:
Tonight here in North Carolina, we got rid of
:bluebox: Elizabeth Dole :bluebox: Robin Hayes :bluebox: and kept Pat McCrory from fucking up the entire state as bad as he fucked up Charlotte.
and...
...wait for it
...is the suspense building yet?
...
... :P
...wait for it...
...with 100% of the counties in North Carolina reporting
Obama 49.67% 2,108,777 McCain 49.40% 2,097,531
I shall now go look up Sugar Smack and tell her she was right and then pass out from the delightful shock and awe I am in right now. North Carolina is now a blue state. It's a blue state. Fucken A. It's a blue state. I's a blue state liberal now. I should run amok tonight and shout with glee. I think I will. :wow:

34. I know. It was very important that we get Kay Hagan too. |
|
We so desperately needed this. Dole just did the Senate gig for the notoriety and status anyhow. She wasn't even from here. She hardly ever worked, and when she did, she did everything the opposite of what we need in this state. I'm soooo glad she'll be gone.

I created my own election map on the CNN site last week, and colored NC BLUE! Just had a big feeling.

Now, I stand happily corrected.

39. Ha- you know more about your state, that's for sure! |
|
Mine was only a hope and a feeling but I remembered you had considerable evoting "malfunctions" in 2004, so imagined you were more blue than recent election results would indicate.
Cheers!

8. My parents are spinning in their urns... |
|
Staunch Republicans from NC, both have passed away, my dad in 2002, my mom in 2006. In 2004, my mom said, "Who did you vote for?" I simply told her, "Not Bush!" Her reply, at 91, was, "Someday you'll figure it out, you'll learn!" All I could think of tonight was that they would be flipping out with this election. God forbid, a black man in office! And now this! lol

They didn't like me, and I'm glad they are gone, frankly, especially my father. My mother tried to make up for 50+ years of crap on her deathbed, and it was bittersweet, but they were not very pleasant people. When I was 18, I went to college, never went home, and re-created myself from what I was raised with, so, yeah, I'm a progressive always living on the edge of poverty, instead of a country club sweetheart, like everyone else in the family. I think they all realize now, in middle age, that I am the richest of us all. :)

30. There sure are a lot of great Texans though. |
|
I'll always remember and cherish that we were lucky enough to live in the same time period as Ann Richards, one of my favorite Texans of all. Also, Robbie Jacks was a great Texan as well. He may have acted crazy and wielded a chainsaw in the movies(Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Leatherface), but he was a great guy to know in person. I miss him. He would be so happy tonight too. RIP Gov. Richards and Robbie.
And let's not forget many fine Texas Democrats like you. If there is hope for NC to turn blue, there is definitely hope for Texas to turn blue too. Who knows? In four years, we may both be blue staters. We should plan a party for that event. :toast:  :loveya:

I remember four years ago, thinking that I would never live in a state that could ever possibly contribute in a meaningful way to a Presidential election.

The numbers didn't fit there. The repugs stole that state. I was initially pissed at the voters when they didn't go Kerry, but I later came to conclude that they actually had.
