THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.
To all of the DUers who spent the day dragging our assess all over creation, knocking on doors and leaving door-knockers. To all of the DUers who spent the last months calling and calling and calling, canvassing, canvassing, canvassing. To all the DUers who talked to friends, family, co-workers, acquanitances and strangers, wrote letters to the editor, or did ANYTHING to advance the cause of Liberty these past eight years...the love and thanks of man and woman, and all the generations to follow us.
Today the battle is won...but the war goes on. We did not declare this cold civil war (Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh and the Bushies with them did), and we did not seek it, but now that it has been forced upon us, we must fight to WIN. Nothing less than American Liberty remains at stake.
So much yet to do. The work begins today. And WE CAN DO IT!
Let the following statement stand for all the things the Bushies had made vile that are now OURS again.
