10. Even among all the amazing things that have happened tonight, this really stands out
I've lived in Indiana my whole life, and I never dreamed my vote would actually count for anything. In 2004, they called Indiana for Bu$h the second the polls closed, and that's been pretty typical for as long as I can remember. Independent of everything else about tonight, this is especially personal for me, and it's another true signifier of how far we've come, that this reddest of red states has FINALLY come around. It makes me feel like the volunteering I did, along with my vote, most definitely was NOT for nothing, and that's a great feeling.

13. Congrats To My Hoosier Neighbors...Welcome To A New Blue World
One of the big winners last night, was my travel itinerary. I've avoided any trips or doing much, if any, business in a Red state...even forcing dude who wanted me in on their biz to move their meetings to Chicago or a Blue state. In 2004, we scrapped a Disneyworld vacation to Florida and went to California instead. Now my world, and theirs (IMHO) has expanded!

The key here is that the Democrats ignored the large Democratic base vote...blacks, unions, in the Northwest part of the state. So many elections were "decided" for this state that the party let thousands of propsective voters slip away. Not this year...an excelent ground game showed here as well as the Obama campaign being based in Chicago. Last week I had talked to a couple who had canvassed all over the state and predicted this would happen.

Congrats Indiana, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Nevada, North Carolina, Colorado and welcome back to Iowa and New Mexico...it's a big blue world out here today!

14. While it was a nail biter... and I went to bed after the beginning of the flip
to Obama the margin was still to close... although all of that - I have been predicting this since September. A sheer momentum vs void thing per the two campaigns.

What a great bit of news to start my day with!

16. Happy Days My Friend...
That race I was watching all night...when Terre Haute (Vigo County) and St. Joseph (South Bend) went, I knew Obama was going to pull it out...similar in many ways to what we saw during the primary. The GOOP took this state for granted and they paid for it.

I've been holding so much back the past couple weeks in fear of jinxing things...now it's time to celebrate.

Cheers and great to see you!
