Why should WE work with them (repukes) ? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 02:26 AM by packerkid
In 2000, Bush was supposed to be a candidate known to "reach accross the isle" in the state of Texas and someone who was going to bring us together as a nation after what we all remember was an emotional, brutal election.
Instead, he gave democratics in Washington as those who supported him a one fingered salute and did NOTHING to work with us. In 2004, he further divided the nation placing right wing Supreme Court justices and taking our children to Iraq to die. He and the republican party who refused to stand up to him; instead supported his agenda which nearly ruined this country has gone down in flames in what cannot be considered anything LESS then an absolute mandate for change.
In Obama's speech, which was one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed, he talks about unity and reaching accross the isle to work with everyone.
But am I bitter to ask why should we? Why in the hell when for the last 8 years we were stepped all over, ignored, had our noses thumbed, should reach out to these ass holes?
Sorry everyone. I am THRILLED about nearly everything that has happened tonight (crossing fingers on Prop 8) but payback is a bitch ....NO?

Our problems are too big and our situation too grave for one party to handle.
We're in this thing together. We are One America and President Obama has made that the backbone of his campaign and his message to our nation.

but remember your history. The Germans were cut out of the framing of the Treaty of Versailles after World War I and were more or less forced to accept it. The harsh terms of the treaty contributed to a depression. This economic downturn combined with the bitterness over the treaty helped the German fascist movement get traction. And I don't put it past some of these people to adopt fascism. Even if they don't, should (and most likely when) they ever regain a majority in Congress or the presidency, they would likely repay the Democrats. No need to perpetuate the cycle.

Has anyone forgotten that we're dealing with the slime bags of the terror party? They'll exploit every micron of slack to obstruct the progress of the Democratic Majority. I won't be satisfied until the vile creature known as the Republican party has been dismembered.

in the WH and the conservatives at large. The ones in the WH are evil, self righteous hypocrites who deserve everything that may be coming their way. Conservatives, while seriously wrong minded are, at least, sincere in their beliefs. THat which we have in common with American conservatives is that we want what is best for America and we have seriously divergent beliefs on how to get there. WH neocons want what is best for WH neocons and their small group of fellow __________ (well, I cannot think of anything rotten enough to say here)

12. We should because we are the UNITED States |

We are trying to live up to the ideal of being a unified nation and retribution is not part of that ideal. We were scared and fooled into believing that oligarchs would have our interests at heart. Now, with Obama we have a real shot at getting involved and making this country into what it should be. Wasting time settling scores will only take us away from that mission.
