A Personal Story of Thanks from Michigan. |
|
Those of you from Michigan may have seen my niece over the last few weeks. She is the young woman in a specialized chair who spoke on behalf of Proposal 2.
Tonight it passed and I could not be happier. It may be too late for her because she has been a victim of the the bush* administration's vicious decision to allow fundamentalists to limit our ability to cure diseases and repair spinal injuries, but there is more than that to consider.
Tonight others will surely benefit because my niece had the courage to speak up. She could have easily decided to turn inward and merely think of herself after the horrible situation that befell her, but she didn't. She knows what fate has in store for her, but she has worked to make a difference for those who have yet to need the research she has been denied.
So thank you, Michigan, and thank you Laura. When I met you so many years ago, I never guessed the courage your soul possessed. Tonight there are many heroes, and I am proud to be related to one of them.

2. Please consider a donation to the University of Michigan Motts Hospital as well. |

Their work is essential for the Great Lakes region and they are the only reason my niece is alive today. https://www.kintera.org/atf/cf/%7BDD317ADC-35CE-4514-9FD3-567CA0947F5E%7D/GIVE.HTML?ucCode=isr

3. I met Laura a few years ago, back when the accident first happened. |
|
We were raising a "Paws with a Cause" puppy named Reetha, and we came to the hospital to visit her. We heard about her at the time because my husband knows Ms. Spence from high school, and we are all good friends. How is that for a 'six degrees of seperation'?
I am glad she is doing well, and know how proud you must be of her work for such a good cause!!!
Best, Ida

I voted for it and the fact that it passed makes me more proud to be a Michigander!
