Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair.
At the GOP convention in St. Paul, Palin was completely unfazed by the boys' club fraternity she had just joined. One night, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her. After a minute, Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat with her laconic husband, Todd. "I'll be just a minute," she said.

40. I'd put more blame on Todd in this case.
It sounds like the others arrived while she was in the bathroom/shower.

Even if at some point Palin was aware that they were there before leaving the bathroom you'd think Todd would have handed off some clothing to her so she could change in the bathroom.

Then again, maybe she was fully aware that they were on their way up and decided to put on a show.

Hard to tell the circumstance from the little blurb in the OP.

44. Wouldn't briefing day and time been scheduled in advance?
I doubt they just showed up unannounced.

She knew what she was doing, or her upbringing taught her it was no big deal.

"I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done , and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective"

President Obama.

19. Wow, Palin was much worse than we feared.
What an egotistical, ignorant woman.

But I must say, I'm surprised that Senator McCain decided not to use some of the nastier stuff against President (Elect) Obama. McCain had more ethics than I gave him credit for. But still, considering that President (Elect) Obama didn't use most of the nasty stuff against Senator McCain, the nastier stuff might have backfired on McCain.

25. Hey, come on, lay off Tonya.
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 09:31 AM by ColbertWatcher
She was is an accomplished athlete.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonya_Harding#Skating_career">Wikip*dia:
She landed her first triple axel in competition at the U.S. Championships, winning the title with the event's first 6.0 ever given to a female single skater for technical merit.

(...)

In her career, Harding landed four triple axels in competition, all of them in 1991 where she completed every one she tried: one at the U.S. Championships, one at the World Championships, and two at the fall 1991 Skate America competition. At the latter competition she recorded three more firsts:

1. the first woman ever to do a triple axel in the short program,
2. the first woman to do two triple axels in a single competition, and
3. the first ever to do a triple axel combination (with double toe loop).

Tonya Harding may have been linked to some seedy characters, but she never pretended to be something she wasn't and became a world-class athlete based on her abilities and not on unethical, backstabbing, favors or connections.

People here seem to be reacting as if it was a press conference. What did you expect her to do - send them outside into the corridor? Seeing flesh isn't sinful, despite what some of the Puritans on this thread seem to think.

33. Do you agree with others on this thread that it makes her a 'whore', 'slut' or 'skeeze'?
And would you say that about any woman who appears in front of someone they know, in private, covered like that?

If those words apply to Palin for her appearance in her hotel room, what about the pictures of JFK or Obama in public, in nothing but swimming trunks? Presumably, those are completely un-'presidential'.

24. This one was interesting, too:
"On the night she officially lost the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton enjoyed a long and friendly phone conversation with McCain. Clinton was actually on better terms with McCain than she was with Obama. Clinton and McCain had downed shots together on Senate junkets; they regarded each other as grizzled veterans of the political wars and shared a certain disdain for Obama as flashy and callow."

27. "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast"
Wow. Pretty revealing article. Among the gems:

Between $20,000 and $40,000 was spent by Palin for clothes for Todd.

Palin had authorization to buy three suits and instead went wild buying everything in sight for herself and her family.

Palin wanted to speak at the concession speech in Arizona, but was overruled.

Palin introduced the Ayers controversy into her speeches before the campaign had signed off on it.

A foreign entity (Russia or China?) had hacked into the campaigns' computer systems in what the FBI felt was an attempt to determine foreign policy plans.

Fascination article. Thanks for posting.

Wow...that's pretty telling about some attitudes.

We just put the first black man in the white house, but a woman who appears (in her own hotel room) with a towel wrapped around her is a whore.

Interesting...
