DU Gatherings All Over The Nation: Give it a KICK if you think it's a good idea!
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 08:21 AM by tom_paine
For myself, here in my little corner the newly-freed Restored Republic of America (or will be on 1/20/2009), I am calling out LynneSin.

Yes, I am CALLING OUT LynneSin to do her ususal terrific job of creating the best EVER SE PA DUer Gathering, in which, for the very first time, we shall meet in blissful joy instead of under the cloud of darkest Bushie Tyranny and Lies.

I think I'd like that...to meet and re-meet my fellow DUers under these conditions instead of under a funereal pall.

Every section of the nation, as it was for a time in '02-'03, should be hosting a DU Gathering between now and Inauguration Day.

Whattaya think, DU? You like the idea? Give it a KICK so those few intrepid souls who must have been Event Coordinators in a previous life can see it and do their thing.

HINT: I am NOT one of those intrepid souls. Calling LynneSin. Calling LynneSin...

2. You Should Try It, Tom Paine
I organized a get-together in DC in 2002 -- it was a good experience. People will show up. Doesn't even have to be a major convention like the first time.

3. What about out-of-towners coming in and arranging lodgings and stuff like that
Does that not play into it? I honestly ask because, to paraphrase Bones McCoy, "Damnit Jim, I'm a molecular biologist, not a party planner."

Anyway, feel free to PM me with a short list of what I'd have to do.

5. well I am planning something but it will be for the inauguration first
I know it will be a nightmare for accommodations but this is historic and I hope that we can all somehow manage to make it to DC for the big event. After that we'll play it by ear. I'm tired & hungover and have to get my act together to lug all my crap on the septa train back to Wilmington.

First I need food - I'm starving!

8. I'd be happy to organize one for the Nashville area
If anyone wants to get together in the Nashville area (and that can include a bonfire my farm), just let me know.

14. A bonfire out under the stars in the backcountry of Tennessee? Excellent.
You make me wish I lived nearer to you. Tell you what, though: if it starts to look like it is going to get off the ground, please PM and I might just be persuaded to hop in my car and drive down the Appalachians to be there.
