Looks Like The HARD RIGHT Is Making A Play For GOP Control
This is GREAT NEWS! Their argument is, "We tried moving left. It didn't work."

Political Battle Under Way Within GOP, Say Conservative Leaders
Wednesday, November 05, 2008
By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – Facing the most liberal president and Congress in a generation, conservative stalwarts do not blame the GOP’s disastrous election performance solely on Republican nominee John McCain or on President George W. Bush. The ultimate culprit, some say, has been big government Republicanism.

Long-time conservative activist Richard Viguerie thinks the Republican Party’s problem this year is not unlike its problem in previous election cycles.

“Moderate and liberal have not done very well,” Viguerie, the chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, told CNSNews.com. “Both Bushes had problems, and Bush the son nearly destroyed the Republican Party. People are looking for a clear conservative choice.”

Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, said this is not the first time Republicans have had a bad election cycle.

1. Oh, yeah! That will keep the GOP out of the mainstream for a generation ... perhaps longer?

Follow thine calling ... nutcase fundies! :silly:

4. They'll regroup quickly. And remember the GOP is the party
that has made a science out of opposition. The new congress is going to have plenty of difficult times getting things passed.

Expect that help to the middle class will come down to a fight by R's about putting taxes on the middle-class to be used to finance every program the Dems put forward. It's their basic position since LBJ: "Sure you can have social programs as long as you only redistribute money among yourselves."

6. A mere 6 years between Watergate and Reagan
Couldn't believe it when it happened and can still hardly believe it now. Movement conservatives are hardier than cockroaches.

2. Yeppers...A Bunch Of Us Were Predicting This...
The new game is "who lost the election" and "who is a "REAL" Conservative...as usual the GOOP and wingnuts can't accept responsibility and believe they didn't lose their asses last night, but that their candidates weren't "conservative" enough.

There's already a battle between the "fiscal" conservatives and the wingnuts and fundies...watch this really open up in the days ahead and the squeaky oil will get the grease. Hate radio and hubris will prevail and with it goes the repugnican party further to the right and into irrelevance.

Let the fun begin!

3. Man, those people are clueless
They "tried" moving left?? When??? They've been so far to the Right that they've lost loads of their own this time around. McCain lost because of his extremist running mate and because he SOLD OUT to the far right and forgot why he won the primary in the first place!

May the extremist Right self destruct into nothingness.

8. The fight over the remains has begun. I believe, and have posted
before the GOP will split, retaining the moderates and forcing the right reverend snake handlers into a third party.
There is a lot of interest in Palin now on the part of the religious right, but I don't know if even she is crazy enough fot them.
She is guided completely by self interest, though and she may well be back.

Going to be interesting to see who ends up where when the blaming dies down, and the real bitterness sets in.
