Poll question: What sort of puppy ? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 08:47 AM by willing dwarf
Our new president's daughters are getting a puppy! What sort do you think would suit the first family, and why?

2. It has to be one that is ok with Malia's asthma - a hypoallergenic dog. |

Hybrid of pug and beagle. Best. Dog. Ever. Friendly, intelligent, curious, humorous and incredibly cute. Of course, I am biased.

5. Never heard of that one |
|
Love the name!
Wouldn't getting a puppy be the absolutely best way to celebrate? And help with the transition. Having your dad be president would feel pretty weird I'd think, though in a good way.

They are cute, but often mean |
|
We had one, but it wanted to heard the family, and because it is a dog bred for cattle herding, it would nip and bite. A hard dog to love and cuddle, alas.

18. Herding behavior doesn't mean a dog is mean, but it's not for everyone |
|
That's why people need to research dog breeds.
I live with two Border Collies, one of which herds everything.

it probably was the product of a puppy mill. So many of them are...
We have a border collie now and she tries to herd us, but she's friendly and funny when she tries to round us up. Fortunately we have goats, so she gets to do some real work with them.

13. Exactly. The girls need to have a say in choosing. |
|
Also, breed doesn't matter. You choose a dog based on his or her personality.

that the Obama's will only get a puppy from a rescue or shelter. They had lots of emails supporting this. It's all good.

Isn't choosing a dog fun, even if it's not your own. It's like baby names, it is just fun!

|
They are the horniest dogs on earth! When I was young there was a neighbor that had one that tried to hump every kid on the block while exposing its red erection!
I still can't wear a pair of Hush Puppies because of that picture. LOL. I'm sure they are sweet, but that scene will never leave my mind as we would run from it screaming and "ewww-ing" at the same time.

A good one is worth it's weight in gold. They're loyal, rugged, adaptable, and smart. My preference is for a very dark or jet black one.

that is my vote....but whatever they get RESCUE RESCUE RESCUE!!!!! There are to many dogs out there that need good homes!! As a groomer I would suggest one that the girls can play with and not worry about matting and needing alot of grooming! Also I would recommend a good trainer!!

There are a lot of dogs (puppies even) that should be adopted before they or anyone considers an expensive breed or designer mutt.
