Poll question: Now that Obama is President-Elect with a Historic Mandate, will the War Criminals Ever Face Justice?
Now that Obama is President-Elect with a Historic Mandate, will the War Criminals Ever Face Justice?

Will Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest ever be brought to the gallows, or at least a prison cell, after facing tribunal at the Hague?

1. It may be many years more
but a presidential pardon only exonerates them in this country. They will always be at risk of arrest if they leave this country, as Rumsfeld found out in Belgium.

4. Obama is about healing not about vengence.
It isn't going to happen.

7. I don't want vengeance.
It wasn't my loved ones who were incinerated by Bush's incendiary bombs. But there are millions of Iraqis mourning loved ones who were killed for no reason whatsoever.

There are thousands of Americans who are mourning the loss of their kids who were killed for no reason whatsoever.

There are thousands of men and women who are blinded, maimed, amputated or crippled as a result of Bush's lies.

This is not about vengeance, it's about justice.

10. We did not seek justice for Lyndon Johnson's crimes
in Viet Nam, why should we do so now.

11. In spirit, I agree...
...but we were in Vietnam at the behest of the "legitimate" government of South Vietnam, which was under attack by the North.

The war in Iraq was completely and utterly unprovoked, there never was even a shred of evidence of any new WMD, and only a handful of Bush-hired Iraqi stooges wanted us to invade.

At least on paper, there were some justifications for the Vietnam war, even if it was equally fraudulent and unnecessary at its core.

The Iraq war was much more obviously fraudulent to everyone on earth, and is much more damaging to America's claims to be a defender of peace and human rights.

8. I believe some of the crooks currently in office are easy pickings for civil suits.
These crooks have amassed great fortunes from stealing the wealth of this country. A good lawyer could bring civil suits (violation of civil rights or other complaints) against these deep pocketed thieves.

Civil suits Can Not be pardoned, unless you pass a FISA bill or other legislation to give amnesty to criminals. I see no reason why the house or senate would now pass such legislation.

And there is still Bugliosi challenge to a politically hungry DA to prosecute W for Murder.

So to some extent these criminals will be prosecuted but it wont be the spectacular war crimes trials that Americans hunger for.

9. I wish they would
But I'm afraid they'll walk away without a scratch. The financial meltdown is their out, like when a magician throws down the flash powder and *POOF* disappears in a cloud of smoke. In the midst of the financial catastrophe and everything else that has to be fixed, starting right this minute, if the Dems went after the bushies the media would have a field day and before we knew it, the meme would be "what are they worrying with this for when the economy needs to be fixed, the war needs to come to a close and blah, blah blah"

Unfortunately, I fear a lot of "Joe sixpacks" out there that obviously went for Obama would be driven away, unable to understand what's happening and seperate it from the media spin. Still, I would support "hanging them from a yard arm" even if it meant 50 years of rethug rule. But I seriously doubt anything substantial will ever be done about them.

12. Maybe if we focus on Bush...
You'll never get lots of people. But there might be some possibility if all energy is focused on a single person.
