With a GOP war on, we're supposed to play nice? |
|
Right now it may seem like all rainbows and roses, but the reality of governing a rabid GOP will set in quickly, once our president takes office.
The party is cornered and will become more vicious than we thought possible. If Obama reaches his hand across the aisle for bi-partisan support, he'll pull back a bloody stump.
GUARANTEED!!!!

17. Isn't OUR NEW PRESIDENT left-handed? |
|
So he can reach across the aisle with his right hand ... to slap some fucking sense into them.

15. **hugz** We can bask a while longer sister :) |
|
But after January 20th, really NO later than Xmas, we need to start fighting back, even HARDER than before! These assholes won't stop, they won't realize they were thrown out because THEY are the REAL enemies of the democratic ideal.
We can never rest on our laurels :(
CONSTANT VIGILANCE....
But even Mad Eye Moody partied once in a while :):party::toast::hug::patriot:

3. playing nice, much like Daschle and Gephardt did helped to create this mess |
|
just because the neocons lost doesn't mean they're finished. They'll continue to be vocal and peddle their brand of 'reality', so fighting back with the Truth is definitely in order, IMO.

and that was why it was so important to get at least 60 Senators. Without the 60, it's going to be an uphill battle.

7. if they can't ram legislation through with the majority they have now, |
|
then none of them are worth much. We used to get a lot more done with less mandate, because we actually had skilled politicians who knew how to jawbone and armtwist. Now we have to have a filibuster proof majority? How sad.

8. Remember what they did to Clinton. |
|
They gave him no quarter, and hounded him on personal issues, lies, and slanders his whole administration, finally getting something that stuck a little bit and turning it into an impeachment. (Did we really impeach a president over a blow job?).
So, yeah, this election was the easy part. Every day, every step, of Obama's administration will make this election look like a cakewalk.
The good news is that we have Congress and that Obama is not as battered going in as Clinton was. And his views aren't as liberal as what Clinton tried to do at first, so he won't get as much resistance from his own party as Clinton did. No Sam Nunn to deal with. So maybe he'll catch until his first controversial action. I doubt it, though.
Someone tried to kill Clinton by crashing a plane into the White House, don't forget. Others stood outside the White House and fired bullets into it. Some actually hit inside the building. Our enemy is pscyhotic and violent, and I'm not talking about our external enemies.

9. You use diplomacy to take advantage of the situation instead of waging war |
|
Reach out to the moderate republicans for your bipartisan support, and let the fundies fend for themselves. It will further drive apart the republicans, and give the Democrats more power. It is all about taking control of the center.
Mudslinging is the republicans game, and they do better with a divided nation. Let's start thinking strategy instead of tactics

will be there for the taking. The GOP will fracture for a while and it's a good time to start driving wedges.
I wonder if our President-elect is smart enough to take advantage of these little openings? You betcha.

10. understand the difference between pols and people |
|
Part of why I come here is to remember that although opposed politically, we need to try to understand each others positions, agree or not.
I do harbor some severe distrust of some democratic politicians, not all, but some.
I also know many dems in my personal life I trust and respect regardless of what political affiliation they hold.
Not all republicans are uneducated racist nazis, I know thats hard to believe, but its true. :D
I point out to my R friends that not all dems are godless communists out to destroy America.
Somewhere we have to come together so we can avoid simply swinging back and forth from one extreme to another. Each swing will simply undo what the previous accomplished and the mindless attacks will simply gridlock the few things our government could do right, and my feeling is that pretty much whatever the goverment sets out to do it pretty well ruins, lol.
As for politicians, fair game by any means though. Just remember they are not the same as the fellow who may live down the street with a Mc/Pal bumper sticker.

Gloom! Despair!
Obama will find a number of GOP members pliable and reasonable. Why? They have to face voters in two years.
He will wisely pursue bills that can muster 65% support or more in both houses of congress.

Don't kid yourself... PRESIDENT Elect Obama is no fool. If the repubs decide they won't play nice everyone will know and it will only be worse for the republicans next time around.
