****OFFICIAL MUSICAL CELEBRATION THREAD******
My relaxing music thread was well received, and it also got me through the afternoon...

Now, let's link to the music we wanted to hear all through the tense early hours of November 4th, 2008! Let me start us off:

We Are The Champions by Queen.

Joy to the World by Three Dog Night.

Party Hard by Andrew WK.

We Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who.

Brown Eyed Handsome Man by Chuck Berry.

One Love by Bob Marley.

Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In by the Fifth Dimension.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omFdpnSu57U">It's a Beautiful Day by U2.

No Worries by Hepcat.

And of course, Signed, Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder.

Feel free to add your own!

3. Peace on Earth performed by Railroad Earth
Not the best quality video or sound but makes the point. RRE is my happy music and I've been listening to them since about 11:00pm EST last night...

9. Oh yeah. I go way back to the From Good Homes days.
I remember watching FGH play Grateful Dead cover tunes in little hole-in-the-wall bars in north Jersey in the early 90's.

RRE is the best band on the planet right now, IMHO.

Glad to hear you're a fan too.

I had forgotten about this great tune until someone posted it on a thread started by EnviroBat on Oct 29:
"Last Night a Black Man Called Me His Brother"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=4329176#4331250

This thread worked some kind of magic on many of us. It inspired me to turn my van into an Obamarama Votemobile. We drove this thing around town for 2 and a half days with the windows rolled down (fabulous fall weather), and played a mini-CD we made for the occasion, that had about 12 songs on it, which we played OVER AND OVER (but I am not sick of any of them :), rather LOUD!

One was "Reach out in the darkness ".

Another - my theme song for the project!!-- was Let's Work Together by Canned Heat (there is not a perfect copy on Youtube but this is ok: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icvCh_gsS4M )

We also played "Your Flag Decal Won't Get You into Heaven Anymore by John Prine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kTctirEPns

"This Little Light of Mine" by Mavis Staples
"This Land is Your Land" - Woody and Arlo Guthrie
"America the Beautiful" - Keb Mo
and others

"Let's Work Together" got the most rousing responses from people along the way!! We had a BLAST!! Such good vibes going back and forth. I am still on a high, though exhausted.

Here are pics of the votemobile:

14. Heroes - David Bowie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTDsluqpV28

I
I can remember
(I remember)
Standing
By the wall
(By the wall)
And the guards
Shout above our heads
(Over our heads)
And we kissed
As though nothing could fall
(Nothing could fall)
And the shame
Was on the other side
Oh we can beat them
For ever and ever
Then we can be heroes
Just for one day

15. You can see the MSNBC crew getting their grooves on to Signed Sealed Delivered
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 12:58 PM by rocknation
on the Countdown election special (about six and half minutes in). At least, you can see Eugene Robinson and Rachel Maddow getting their grooves on--Nora O'Donnell looks more like she's signaling for a touchdown while Pat Robinson pays his respects to Stevie Wonder by donning dark glasses!
