I'd like to thank all the young people at DU and across the nation. |
|
Polls indicate the younger generation was supporting Obama by 2-1 margins, and turned out in record numbers. I'm a baby boomer, and my generation kind of dropped the ball after the 70s. From the bottom of my my heart, I thank you for picking that ball up and running with it.

7. There was another thread that had the exact numbers: it was |
|
close to 65% one way or another and was the highest voter turnout since the 1908 Taft election.

It wasn't just Obama either. I was working on a State Senate race here in NY, which Obama obviously had locked up. There was a TON of young folks working on a STATE SENATE race!
Ending up winning by 20 points, defeating a 36 year incumbent and sending the first Democratic Senator to Albany from my county since 1902!

6. Thanks to the Young People, the Old People and Those in the Middle |
|
A special thank you to the young people who went out in the wilds and lit the camp fires and never gave up.
A special thank you to all those middle aged people who worked the streets and byways, determined to get out the vote.
A special thanks to all of the old people who stood in line or shakily marked their absentee ballots and hobbled to the post office to make sure they were mailed. They voted for the future.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Now we have to get together, set that USA bus upright and push it out of the ditch and onto the road.
Caution: Don't get too impatient. A little progress at a time is better than going backwards and better than none.
