America unites on the collective intolerance of LGBT folk.
With the words "I do not support gay marriage." from both political sides fresh in their ears, voters went to the polls and delivered a unified message to the LGBT community this election cycle.

We don't really like you. We don't think you are equal. We think you are dangerous and need to be put down.

I want every Democrat who voted for Obama and for the various LGBT punishing referendums across the nation from not only this election but 2004 as well...I want you all to know...

This is only the beginning. We will not go away. We will remind you everyday...

You will see us everyday. We are here...we are PROUD. We live and we LOVE!

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT YOUR JUDGMENT OF US!!!

NEVER!!!

3. I'm sick about this.
But I expect it to be overturned in a court very soon. Think about it. A fucking proposition to take away someone's rights. It's WRONG. No one would get away with a proposition in the South to take away African American rights, and goddamn it, no one should get away with taking away gay marriage. I don't know how anyone could have voted for this piece of shit. Shame on them.

Will see this issue as a expression religious freedom or states rights. The current court makeup will not allow same sex marriage to exist.

29. That's my big fear...
when I see everyone consoling themselves with the Supreme Court. Time may come that they show up expecting a Brown v. Board of Education and get a Plessy v. Ferguson instead.

6. Exactly. I will not celebrate the abrogation of my civil rights
or a man who was elected explaining how mine should be defined "differently" than his own.

16. If it does help, remember his rather clever insertion of very inclusive language...
...promising equality. Obama's and Biden's were, at least in part, the most progressive talk we've ever seen from major candidates.

It's just a tragedy that they found their anti-GLBT rhetoric echoed in every referendum last night. Totally by coincidence, of course. x(

10. Ok you can put away the broad brush now please.
Many of us would have voted no on Prop 8 a thousand times if we could have. I agree it's a travesty that it passed. Obama has no power yet, and yes I agree Dems should take a stronger stance even at election time, but please try to see the light at the end of a very long tunnel. I truly feel the country has moved forward as a whole. I'm still baffled by the Dems voting for prop 8 in California. Some of us indeed have lost our way, but I'm convinced we're still in an infinitely better situation with President Obama at the helm. Please concede that.

24. No question about Obama....one of the great moments in my life
Was to see him win.

But I did not go off to the bar to celebrate...cause I know...all my friends would be deeply saddened by Prop 8 victory...

I all felt that California would stand for us.

I felt that California dems would defeat this measure.

I was wrong.

I know Obama is destined for greatness. But I don't think we be included.

again.

And that makes me sad to know that each passing election cycle we will see more successful measures to strip away yet another chance of equality, measure that have nothing to do with marriage but measures that ride on the coat tails of these limiting and discriminatory measures.

The LGBT community is now the politically weakest and most vulnerable minority when both political parties deny us equality.

26. The positive side I see overall is that the extreme religious right
has finally been marginalized and exposed for it's lack of true voting power. Once they cease to be a significant lobbying factor I think we'll move forward a little quicker on a lot of issues.

As much as I'd enjoy a Proposition to take away rights from Rednecks,
I wouldn't vote for it. Because it is wrong. And the propositions that work against GLBT are a crime, IMO. We need to stay on it.

Thank you! I know I am being optimistic, but I believe we can take this to the SCOTUS and win big time. The fundies will soon regret starting this battle, because it really is about equal Constitutional Rights. Period. Even the conservatives on the bench have to see that.

12. I know...we worked our asses off down here to defeat that fucking piece of shit.
The truly fucked up thing is, that these morans have gotten such a complete fucking case of cognitive dissonance, that they honestly don't think that they are bigoted assholes. The big meme among the fuckheads I have had to shout down, is "I have no problem with gay people...I just don't think they should get married."
:wtf:

I grew up in the 60's in Tennessee, and the racial meme there at the time was..."I have no problem with black people...they just should not marry white people", or the more popular "I have no problem with them, they should just stick with their own kind."
:argh:

FUCK...are gay people going to have to wait another 50 years before they are allowed the same rights as well?

Right now, I am proud of my country...but the complete disgust and contempt that I am holding for my fucking state of california has put a huge damper on it.

Bigotry an discrimination is wrong, wrong, wrong. It doesn't matter what flavor it is, it's wrong.

But the issue will not go away. Hopefully things will be better with Barack, we'll have to see. He has a lot on his plate right now, Bush and the GOP have left him with a huge mess to clean up.

15. Good for you.
Now that Obama and Biden are elected, it's okay to criticize them. We unified behind Obama/Biden and a large portion of their supporters kicked us in the face. Obama's stance on gay marriage is chickenshit. If we let states decide matters of civil rights, there are a lot of states that probably would have much larger racial inequality than now.

I don't see yesterday as a victory. I regret my vote for the first time ever. I should have voted for the party that supports civil rights.

20. The good news is that our kids support your rights, even if
their parents don't.

My son is 15 and a member of the Young Democrats at his school. His schoolmates overwhelmingly support gay rights, and across party lines. He will begin to vote in 3 years, as will his classmates. He will vote in the 2012 election.

Change is coming. I'm sorry that you will need to wait a bit longer. It's not right. But change is coming.

27. I, for one, fully support marriage for everyone
And I am sorely disappointed knowing that there were Democrats who voted for Obama and AGAINST equality for all. It boggles my mind. It really does. Don't people realize that this is about more than marriage, it is about all the "extra" rights that married couples have like being able to visit a sick spouse/partner.

28. While it is the majority of voters nasty opinion please know:
That there are many of us that are sickened by the hate that pushes this agenda and the hate in the hearts of those that vote for this vileness. The younger voters and those coming of age see this differently and that is part of the reason for the push to change states constitutions. The haters can see the change coming and they are throwing up as many road blocks as they can, the know to change the state Constitution require immense energy and money and they are hoping the young will be too lazy to even try - I hope with all my heart they are wrong.

30. It will not be long before the US Supreme Court reads the Constitution and decides that under it's
clauses, marriage must extend to the LGBT community as an equal right. It took the US Court to force the ugly laws restricting marriages between races from the southern states books. It will happen. I do believe you have every right to marry whomever you wish.

Which was Florida's version of prop 8, I have and will contonue to vote no on such, and I believe that Obama is laying supreme court dominoes to make sure that these provisions gets smashed into dust. I will support the LGBT, and I am one of those Hispanics everyone seems to blame for this.
