I have a new ballot proposition ... any supporters?
Let's change the California constitution to state "a marriage is defined as one between a left handed and a right handed person only."

The Prop 8 that passed is just as ridiculous. I'm not gay but I still find discrimination against sets of consenting adults appalling.

1. I think we should place a proposition on the ballot that makes it more difficult to get a divorce.
Because, you see, I want to protect marraige.

11. True story...
I once wrote a column for my college newspaper about defending the sanctity of marriage by outlawing divorce.
I only got one response from someone who actually got the joke.

2. How about an initiative that removes state tax exempt status from any church
that campaigns for or against a ballot intiative?

7. There you go. How about we just remove tax exemption altogether?
That's something I could get behind. Call it the "Religious Equality Act of 2010."

or automatic divorce with no option for renewal or another marriage for either spouse. Age makes no difference. Seems as fair as Prop 8 to me...

6. Or amend the constitution to define a Mexican as 3/5ths of a person
Yeah, like that. Mob rule.

8. And let's not ignore the fact that a Constitution is to establish a government
grant that government powers and limit those powers. It is not an instrument to regulate individual behavior.

9. I do too
This was the biggest disappointment of the night.

In the meantime, as this grinds through the courts, maybe some good will come of it: churches that participated in this act of bigotry will be taxed for crossing the line between religion and politics.

10. I think we need a prop which requires more than
a simple majority to amend the constitution.

This irks me the most.
