Poll question: What's first on the Things To Do list?
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 05:46 PM by undisclosedlocation
Yeah, I know, All of the Above, but try to pick one. My personal favorite isn't on the list, and I've been trying to figure out how to word it for at least the 5 1/2 years I've been here. In a nutshell, I live in the Republican suburbs of Columbia, the capital of South Carolina. We have no industry but government, the university and Fort Jackson. In other words, these people whose entire prosperity is based on government largesse from the rest of the country are double-dipped Republicans cuz "mah taxes 'r' too hah." I've got to assume that the situation is the same in suburbs of other Southern capitals (well, Atlanta has actual industry, so some of their Republicans are deluded but at least not hypocrites). So I'd like the rest of the country to starve us out. Make sure that federal programs meant to benefit the poor in the South actually benefit them and not just those of us around the state capitals. Please.

2. Reverse all the last minute GOP laws, then work on the other ones like NCLB. Oh, and ...
... ferret all the fundies out of government.

6. Actually, the latter part was partly what I meant with the culture wars slot
as in, deny accreditation to any college or university (those should be in quotation marks) that don't at least recognize evolution. Make a lot of those bozos a good deal less hireable without degrees.
