8. I recall once having to take a test in college. I did not do so bad that I did

not pass the test and got the best mark in class, like a C and then we all learned it was the test Blacks had to take to vote in many Southern states and no one, even a C student, would be able to vote with what we did. It opened my eyes and I really got going on that class. After a year in high school of Am. govt. I could not believe I knew so little and yet I was most likely the teachers best student. It was down right scary. Since I was way older than most student, having gone back to college, I could see some thing was going on in our schools, if every one knew so little that I was the best student. It also may be why people are voting as their churches tell them to do. They do not know enough about their own govt. to give it a little thought.
