Merkley is closing in.

With 78% of the Oregon vote counted in the Senate race, Smith's lead is down to 3,483 votes and there remains 42% of the vote still to be counted in Portland's county.

Update: With 79% of the vote, Smith leads by 4,743 votes.

2. I Heard Merkley Pulled ahead
As of 6:41 pm ET, Merkley has 645,711 votes, and Smith only has 644,544 votes!!!! Merkley is going to win!!!!!
