The word of the day for me: CATHARSIS |
|
a: purification or purgation of the emotions (as pity and fear) primarily through art b: a purification or purgation that brings about spiritual renewal or release from tension
For so long, its been one body blow after the other and after a while you get numb to the pain and just try to make it through another round. The theft of 2000. The swing of the Supreme Court. The deepening crises in our way of life from labor concerns to health care. 9/11. Two long wars that didn't need to be. Debt. Loss of face on the world stage. Torture.
It has been a never ending litany of soul crushing events from the powers that be and impotently trying to mitigate the effects of those events.
I needed this. I needed a renewal of spirit.
Without it, I would have just withdrawn more and more with each new nightmare until I had given into complete cynicism.
So this victory means a lot to me.
I now feel recharged and ready to keep up the fight. I'm a lot wiser, but no less idealistic.
Thank you all for everything you did to bring about this catharsis.
