Cindy Sheehan got 17% of the vote against Pelosi.
That's the biggest vote any candidate has pulled against Nancy in years. I hope she'll learn from that that it's not a good thing to represent a progressive district and abandon progressive voters.

Maybe Nancy will get the message: it's time to grow a spine.

1. Didn't Nancy get like 72%
I'm sure she's quaking in her boots.

3. But its the narrowest victory she's had in years.
And to have a candidate with no money, no party, a candidate derided in the press pull that sort of a vote, should at least humble Nancy somewhat.

We'd have all been better if Harry Britt had won the primary against her anyway, back in the day.

San Francisco congressmembers are SUPPOSED to be progessive, and supposed to speak truth to power, and wield power in truth when they get it.

2. I don't think she got the message. The only surefire way is to actually unseat the entrenched person
That's the only guaranteed way to "send the message home." Nothing says that than getting kicked out of your seat.

6. She didn't (and won't). It's up to us to keep fighting
for the truth to be commonly known and the birthright of every American (the Constitution) be restored. If we fail, we are no better than her refusal to address the situation. Democracy for our time is continued participation and carrying on the fight.

8. She's proved to be no leader.
The biggest failure of 2006-2008 as far as Congress accomplishing little to nothing, and constantly caving to the Bushies is because of lack of leadership.

Fortunately, last night, we solved that lack of leadership problem. I'm pretty confident that Obama will be able to put Pelosi on-task.

the rules here to wish Cindy well?

I'd do it to...but...you know....it's against the rules.

Seriously, she'd be 1,000 x's better than Pelosi.

16. Well, thank goodness.
I wouldn't want to support, like, or even talk about anyone who supports our issues and causes unless they could dressed in their donkey suit. Silly me, thinking that issues and ideology should matter more than party.

Sorry, this is my only complaint here.

17. I hear you. I actually argued that DU should have put aside its
"No opposition to Democratic candidates during the fall election" rule in Pelosi's case. I mean, if she had lost(especially if she'd lost to Cindy), well, so what? Would there have been any downside?

11. I rec'd this thread because I hope Pelosi will face challenges every single time.
I switched my registration back to Democrat to support her party challenger. And I will continue to support her challengers until she is either out of office or remembers where her district is.

17% in the most anti-war city in the country where a Green party candidate almost became mayor and where here opponent didn't even bother to campaign. Jesus, look out world!

You guys prefer that Medusa's head to Sister Sheehan, one of the great American heroes? What a sad commentary.
