The right wing response to losing will be to go further right. |
|
Just like Boosh's decision to escalate the war on Iraq because American's wanted a "new strategy."

I'm expecting a civil war, but I think the moderates will win.

It should make interesting comedy. I hope the moderates prevail. But as someone pointed out, those that are left in power are the deep red - hard rightwingers.

4. That's also Nancy Pelosi's response to winning, oddly enough. |

Gotta govern from the mythical "middle". :eyes:

13. I'm getting kind of sick of that "middle" crap. |
|
The true middle just elected Obama in overwhelming numbers.
I am "left", being populist & socialist in tendencies..(and pointedly "left" of our dear Obama - huzzah for his victory)
What Pelosi is calling "middle" is quite far right...

Perhaps we can move North Carolina, Missouri, Indiana and Virginia from toss up to leaning D, solidify Florida, Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico and Pennsylvania as safe states, and start working on Arizona and Montana.

9. I think they'll splinter into three groups |
|
Libertarians Corporatists Religionists
I think the religionists will take over the Republican Party with the other two groups forming a coalition party.

10. I was listening to the radio when Dole lost to Bill. |
|
Michael Reagan had a guest on who was going on and on about the reason Dole lost was that he wasn't conservative enough. They surmised the only solution was to move the party even further right. :eyes:

they'll need to learn to coexist.

16. SOME of them will go further right. |
|
My bet is that the party will splinter for a while - the moderates/fiscal conservatives, neo-cons and fundamentalists will all be at each other's throats.
The fundies and neo-cons will likely go further right, but the fiscal conservatives and moderates won't have much motivation to go along, and they'll likely calculate that they'll get more mileage by going centrist or even left and play along with Obama.

The complete Democratic victory is a clear repudiation of conservatism. They can have the 10-15% of the pop who revel in being Luddites. The rest of us can chose between the center-left Democratic party and leftist Greens.
