Never thought I'd ever write that.
Yesterday only 1 Governor Position changed parties -- Missouri. Jeremiah Nixon is Missouri's newest Governor and he's a Democrat.
There were no other changes. This was great because Missouri is a fairly large state with 11 electoral votes and in 2010 is when Districts are re-drawn and the Governor will be important in that re-drawing.
Vermont and North Dakota still have republikkan governor's. But, they have only 1 House rep. So there's no districting.
We held North Carolina, West Virginia and Washington which are huge pluses for 2010.
Indiana was disappointing, but not a surprise and Utah was expected.
In the end it was a great day in the Governor's races for us.

Governors always get short shrift with so much else going on, but your commentary is right on. We also held the seats in New Hampshire and Delaware, which were important for U.S. Senate seat protection. And I have always liked Jay Nixon from afar (I'm no expert in Missouri politics) - - along with Claire McCaskill, I hope he can help eke the state over the red-blue divide, because it came so close this time around.
