Where were you at exactly 11 pm ET?
Where were you, what were you doing, and what was everyone with you doing, the second that the networks projected the western states?

I was in the university student lounge with the flat screen TV and had been watching since just after Pennsylvania was called. I had my laptop, and many websites were slow due to the high traffic.

Everyone in the lounge started clapping and cheering, and stayed behind for the two speeches.

It was fairly intense.

1. I was in the car driving home from dropping off the ballots
at the Govt Center after working the polls since 4:30 in the morning. Oddly, I wasn't even tired. I was too excited.

2. I was sitting in the family room off our kitchen,
with my sons.

I screamed. They looked at me like I had just grown an extra head (we are not a screamy family). My older son pointed out that we had already known the outcome for hours and the younger one said I probably hurt the dog's ears.

They were very happy, but they had never been anxious, as I had been. They were always certain that Obama would win -- which just made the suspense worse for me.

3. JeffR and I ...
... got the news from the same person we have gotten all of the real news from lo these many years - Jon Stewart.

There's something incredibly ironic about hearing the most important news of our lifetimes on the "fake news" - and something so perfect, and cool, about it, too.

This is one of those moments that will undoubtedly - and rightly so - become a question people ask each other in future, as a way of gaging where they were, and WHO they were, at a particular moment in time:

Where were YOU when you heard THE GOOD NEWS?

4. I had gotten off the phone with one of my sisters just before they
announced. Right after they called it for Obama, I called my daughter, and as soon as she picked up the phone, we both started chanting, "YES WE DID!! YES WE DID!!"

6. Running From . . .

. . . my "operations center" home office, with multiple TVs and of course DU and other sites up on the computers, into the living room to jump around wildly and yell in the arms of my fiancee. :-)

9. I was asleep
I had only four hours sleep Monday night. Then I had to work at the polls from 6am to7:45pm. I had planned to go party at headquarters, but I was just too tired. I only woke up because of the loud noise of the crowd at Grant Park woke me up. Thank heavens for TIVO.
